Hi, I am new here. I have been on this blog site before and just did some general reading of the blog posts and some underwear reviews at that time. Last evening and this morning as I read more of the blog posts and then many of the meaningful replies, I thought this might be a good place to join. So here I am. I have been more interested and fascinated with different types of men's underwear in the past 5 years, but I only ventured into making the leap and trying thong underwear about a year and a half ago.

I have done my share of experimenting and I am always on the lookout for new types, new fabrics, etc... Lately I purchased some black Jockey-branded leggings (more designed for use during exercise, although they are very plain & black in color) and also fitted 7-inch inseam black Jockey bike shorts. I have searched high and low for men's combo polyester/elastane (aka spandex/lycra) in both workout shorts (similar to the very common women's seamless/booty-hugging shorts) and also leggings (aka meggings) made of similar materials. What's been frustrating to me is that most of the workout clothing marketed towards men in terms of both body-hugging shorts and leggings in baselayer/compression clothing (that is translucent so you are forced to wear shorts over them) that is marketed by men wearing them underneath shorts. I have no interest in doing that as I am not ashamed of my body, including the progress that I have made in the gym, to just to hide it. Hence my desire to wear body hugging shorts and leggings that are non-see through and functional.

All of this background detail is to say, that I am interested in your recommendations of brands that market the body contouring shorts, similar to the tight fitting ones that women wear to the gym and outside of the gym for that matter, and also leggings. The jockey short and leggings that I referred to are the only opaque ones that I have found. I know of brands like Matador Meggings and Kapow Meggings that do not seem as though they are translucent, but they are also quite expensive. I am looking for options that might be $50 or less. I did purchase last evening a pair from a brand called Willit ( https://a.co/d/fC8Savy )on Amazon for close to $30. From reading the reviews, they seem to not be see through so I am optimistic to try them on.

If there are other brands of both shorts and leggings that folks on this site might recommend, I would greatly appreciate any input.

Welcome to the forum.I'm sure you will get lots of recommendations on which brands to go for from the members who regularly wear leggings . In fact, if you go onto the main blog and click on the white symbol to the left of Categories, then type in the word leggings in the search box, you will see reviews and other posts on leggings that Nate,who runs the blog, has produced.

Welcome to the forums. It is hard to find affordable leggings/shorts marketed to men. Willet is one I think I've seen someone recommend before though I haven't tried them. Unfortunately I don't have any good recommendations. The few I have aren't completely opaque. They work for me, since I don't go to the gym to work out. As with thong and bikini underwear/swimwear we seem to have to pay more of a premium than women do for what the typical guy doesn't wear.

I appreciate the replies. I will check out the other blog postings from Nate on leggings as recommended. The Willet pair seems pretty good and they are reasonably priced. At least the steel gray color that I purchased it not translucent.

Also check out mens' HeatGear tights/leggings by Under Armour...I've got a bunch of pairs of those and wear them to the gym as well as casual wear. They're not translucent, I don't think...I don't wear anything under them typically and I Never wear shorts over them--so far no one has commented that they show too much. They're probably not as 'body-hugging' as women's tights but they're comfortable...I get mine off Amazon , they're all less than $50, unless you want to get ColdGear leggings (a little heavier, for working out in colder weather.

As an aside, it's been my experience that darker-colored tights/meggings seem to be potentially more translucent than more colorful, brighter ones for some reason (unless they get wet, maybe...like a white speedo or something).

I love that these have a nice pouch built in to accommodate my equipment. I'm not huge by a long stretch, and I'm more of a grower.

Another option I'm interested in trying is the leggings and bike shorts from iSwim. The biggest challenge there is picking the right fabric. iSwim will make them with any of the fabrics they have available. They seem reasonably priced and look really great.

After much searching on the Internet for reasonably priced men's leggings, the only ones so far that have purchased so far were the brand Willit on Amazon. I referenced their brand with the Amazon link in my first post. Of course the ongoing issue with lower priced leggings is quality and whether or not they will last cleaning in the washing machine (on cold of course). I think Matador Meggings and Kapow are great brands but I am not really interested in investing $90+ for leggings. I have noticed at least one pair of my Willit brand leggings are already pilling. I have worn and washed them only twice. Now the Willit brand are made out of nylon and spandex, which although it's very comfortable, from what I have read it has a greater propensity for pilling compared to a polyester/spandex blend. I have a black pair of Jockey leggings, which are a polyester/spandex blend, and they seem to be holding up pretty well after a few times wearing them at the gym. I just don't want to wear the Jockey pair as a potential daily wear because they are pretty plain looking and have a single pocket only. I prefer leggings with two pockets, one on the left leg, and one on the right leg, versus a single pocket option or even worse, no pockets. The other issues that I have noticed when looking at men's leggings is that companies use the term leggings as an umbrella term for yes, leggings, compression wear, tights, base layer, etc.) It's very frustrating to say the very least. The other problem with the clothing manufacturers and their lousy categorization for leggings is that a lot of this stuff is see-through. Most dudes that wear "leggings", in particular to the gym, do so underneath shorts. I have no desire to do that.

For some reason, similar in some manner to my interest in underwear, including thongs, bikini, string bikini, etc. I am interested in trying women's leggings and shorts. I like the color & pattern options, lower price, and in some cases pretty decent "bang for the buck". I am also interested embarrassingly (just a little) in wearing women's booty lifting shorts (such as these Aurola brand on Amazon: https://rb.gy/ey3ty ). I guess that the same would be true of my interest in women's leggings. I already have a nice posterior "butt" you know, a little extra lift ain't bad either. I personally dislike the double-standard at the gym, and in the general public, where men are stigmatized in they dress in a more non-gender conforming manner. Some part of me internally wants to push the envelope a bit because I can, and also since I was a part of a conservative religious group for decades where I couldn't dress how I really wanted.

Sorry guys, I know that I turned this posting into somewhat of a little rant, but I feel that this is a safe space to share, and I have appreciated ya'all taking the time to read my lengthy post and help me out.
