Thongs in hot climates?

Post by ThongBum »

I live in a pretty hot climate. The high today is 99 degrees and the heat index will be at least 108. Now that is a bit unusual, but summers are always really hot and humid here.

So naturally I have some observations about underwear in this climate. Briefs, trunks, and boxer briefs are utterly miserable to wear in this heat. Especially cotton ones. They stick and cling and never want to dry out. I don’t even like bikinis. Jocks are OK but I don’t like them very much, at least compared to thongs.

Thongs were a revelation. Since there is so much less fabric they don’t hold in the heat like larger styles. Pouch type thongs keep the genitalia from sticking to the legs and hold everything out a bit so everything is kept a lot cooler.

Cotton thongs aren’t the best for heat this extreme. They get soaked with sweat but they’re still better than briefs, etc. Synthetic fabrics are king here. They wick away moisture and dry extremely quickly.

I cannot imagine going back to thick cotton briefs that get soaked with sweat and cling to my nether regions.

Yes I live where summers are extremely hot and humid also (Gulf Coast) and I totally agree with you. Thongs just make better sense in this climate. There is absolutely no need to wear underwear with any coverage in the back in this heat. Just another unnecessary layer of material. Thongs provide the perfect amount of coverage you need and support in the front. Like you said, pouch thongs lift the genitals up and away from the body cooling them. Mesh thongs are great for this time of year! I can wear them pretty much year round as our winters are mild here.

I live in central Florida and and this summer has seemed a little hotter and more humid than years prior. I invested in several pairs of mesh thongs which is all I have been wearing for underwear. I tried wearing a light-weight bikini one day and felt gross and uncomfortable. The best I have come across is wearing just a pair of running shorts, with no undies, when I mow the yard or work outside. I have been to the beach a few times and always wear a g-string there.

Welcome to the forum.Hope you will find it fun and informative. Great to read that you wear a g-string at the beach. Wondering why you don't wear one when you mow the lawn etc, but I'm assuming it's due to the proximity of neighbours. My garden is overlooked in places, but when certain neighbours are out, I can wear a g-string while doing the things you describe.

Agreed. I don’t even like thongs with extra coverage when it’s this hot, I prefer low rise cuts.

I'd also like to extend a warm welcome to you! Tell us more about the beach where you wear your g-string! Where is it located? Are there a lot of regular patrons who enjoy microwear of various types as well?

I actually live in Texas by the Gulf Coast and summers get very hot like you described. While I do have two thongs, I'm just not crazy about wearing them even in this heat.

I live in Australia. For 30 years I lived in Perth, which has regular temps over 30C (86F)and maybe a couple of weeks over 40C (104F), now I live in Melbourne which is a bit cooler but still has warm days in the 30’s.
During this time I only wear Lululemon shorts either with true G-strings or just commando, feels so good.

The thong is the perfect choice if you live in hot climates. Not only know that from my personal experience, but also from other people stories.
I have said that many times in greece is well accepted to wear nude color thong under linen pants.
Besides this, under shorts men here go either commando ( the vast majority ) or with small briefs. Some ( i assume this strongly because greek manufacters sell thongs ) prefer thongs.
During my staying in cyrpus ( extremely hot during summer , hot the rest of the year ) i couldnt find a man thong in debenhams ( at that time 2011-2016 were selling their own thongs ) because always was sold out. I had to make a reservation in order to finally buy some.
The salesman in debenhams told me that among the men in limassol ( hot and humid ) thongs are very very popular.
