Winter swim

We’ve just had the winter solstice here in Australia, so hopefully it’ll start getting warmer soon 🤣🤣🤣
My daughter who lives in the UK swims everyday of the year and shamed me into swimming on the shortest day of the year.
It was 12C or 53F both outside and in the water!

Yikes it was cold, as it was such a cold day I was going to run down in just a thong, just for fun as there wouldn’t be too many others about, but I chickened out and wore my new AussieBum “speedo” with a whale pattern. My wife went in first and then me, so we could photograph each other else no one would believe we went swimming in the depths of winter.

Good fun, but I was seriously red from the cold, we didn’t stay long but at least we did it.

That is one cold swim.
We have a thing called polar bear plunge in the winter. The air temperature is always -10C or worse. I’ve never been brave enough to take the dip. I’m not even brave enough to take a dip at 20C. I’ve always been a warm weather swimmer. You have my admiration for jumping in at 12C.

My wife and I started 'wild swimming' this year and plan to have a quick dip in the North Sea where we live on New Years day. I'll wear one of my Oddballs swim briefs.

Brrrr, North Sea on New Years, good luck :-)
My daughter lives in St. Ives in Cornwall, she swims everyday, year around, I think she has ice in her veins!
