Amazing Sotyktu Swim Bikini Dad Commercial

Just saw this commercial - it's the most positive 'straight husband/dad in a swim bikini' commercial I've ever seen.

Starts with a sexy woman in tub (good beginning) enjoying her clear skin (from psoriasis).

Fifteen seconds in the commercial takes a shocking twist - now it's a husband showing off his dad bod and clear skin in a red swim bikini. Wife thinks it's cute - teenage daughter walking by is unimpressed.

But by the end of the commercial, Dad's showing off at the pool and even daughter is brought around to bikini dad. Amazing. Hope this presents a good image for all of us for this summer!

That's a great positive commercial. The nod of approval from the wife makes it feel it wasn't meant to be a joke. Well done representing swim briefs in a positive way. It's great they made it the guy finding the perfect swimsuit over it being a women. Nice norm role reversal that played out well. Thanks for sharing!

Mrrigid, thanks for posting this commercial!!! Dad shows more skin than Mom, and everything is presented in a positive manner! I'm a retired pharmacist (I practiced 36 years), so I get Mom's own feelings of empowerment in feeling better about her appearance, and having confidence in front of a large group, just as Dad is comfortably projecting his own sense of body confidence! Great find!

Hopefully, speedos can become a bit more accepted (or at least less ridiculed) like with men's shorter shorts. They're not mainstream, but I have seen them more in public and no one says a thing.

I agree with others that this is funny but also makes more men comfortable with speedos, even if they have a "dad bod".

I think shorter shorts coming back is a good thing AND I hope boxers and boxer briefs go away too since they are not hidden when legs are shown with short shorts but I also have little faith that speedos will come back...

Is this a genuine American commercial, or is it foreign with a dubbed voiceover? If it's American, then I would agree it is quite a change to see a middle aged family man sporting a speedo and not being the butt of the joke. Hopefully this is a positive sign of things to come.

I think it's not dubbed in english (unless its British english) because when the daughter gets annoyed and says "dad" u can read her lips saying dad not something else.

also isn't the USA one of the few countries which allows commercials for prescription drug commercials, most countries don't need or use commercials to market prescription drugs?

This site tracks tv commercials and says it launched 2 days ago. I definitely saw it in 'regular' US tv (probably Big Bang reruns on TBS!)

Seems like there's been a lot of spots lately for psoriasis and eczema drugs, but as noted, it's usually a woman taking off her coverup to reveal her modest swimsuit. This is quite a step forward!

Wow thanks for sharing this! I don't watch TV much so I probably wouldn't have seen it otherwise. This is definitely encouraging to see and very refreshing to see speedos not treated as a joke on TV. Hopefully we'll see more of these positive speedo portrayals in the near future. It probably won't change a lot of mens minds, especially if they are already closed minded, but it does signal a growing acceptance.

It is a genuine American commercial. I was lucky enough to see it this past week while on the treadmill at the gym. I had my own music in my ear so I couldn’t hear the commercial, but thought it was great it was on. It was a fairly busy night but there didn’t appear any negative reactions. So glad we get to discuss positive imagery such as this.
