Are they 'avin' a larf?

Post by DownUnder »

I recently received a Kiniki email pushing their Super-soft modal range. It contains a plug for their "all new boxer", now with a 28 cm leg which is their "longest ever leg for ultimate comfort". 28 cm - is that all. I'm not gay, I want nothing less than knee length with my underwear thankyou (lol).

Seriously, why does this need to have a leg that is so long. This fabric is also pushed as being super absorbent of moisture, so how long is something like this going to take to air-dry. The image of the thing shows just how much of the fabric in this garment is superfluous. No doubt there is a market for this style, or else it would not have been designed, but I'll stick to my 5 mm waist-band string bikinis for a good while yet.

Their offering seems to be heading towards catering more to the so called "norm" in men's underwear. Their new bikini and thongs styles have the thick elastic waistbands and many of them branded. Also they seems to carry more brief and boxer brief styles than in the past and getting rid of the cuts I liked from them.

I don't get the long styles either and don't understand why guys like to wear them especially if it is warm out.

I hate that I learned about some of the brands mentioned on the site and the forum after that started disconnecting such cool looking styles. I noticed some of the Kiniki styles from last year aren’t available this year which is stupid.
As for the long boxer briefs I have a few that I would wear when doing a lot of walking or even biking. I have thick thighs and would wear them so my thighs wouldn’t rub together and be feel irritated. But I don’t wear them much anymore.

It's been a while since I checked out the Kiniki range, but judging by some of the comments here, it seems like they have discontinued some of their more daring styles. One can only assume that they were not sufficiently popular to justify the expense of keeping them in stock, but it would be sad if the longer trunk style became their biggest seller. Long before online shopping, Kiniki was the go to site to find sexy g-strings, thongs and bikinis, and their catalogues were something to look forward to because the garments were modelled by real guys, not store mannequins. They also avoided using terms like gay and panties in their descriptions of the goods, and their regular sales meant you could get a lot for your money. People might rightly say that guys like me, who used to be a regular customer, are partly responsible for the decline in sales of their skimpier styles, but it was only after buying some g-strings that felt like I was wearing barbed wire between my cheeks, and several Tanga string swim bikinis that totally flattened my package, that I decided not to continue buying from them.

It's wonderful how mainstream mens underwear choice is like the model-T. You can have any colour you want, as long as it's black. It's ridiculous enough that large city center department stores only have boxers, boxer briefs and briefs for 3-4 aisles. There was only ONE store that had a 3-pack thong underwear with their normal offerings. Those were just run of the mill, somewhat oversized brief fron style thongs.

Oddly enough they would have Hom thongs or Hom plume strings and maybe diesel or other such branded thongs online, which you could order and pick up in store. Never had them in store. With the slew of boxers available on the high streets or any mens store, what's more ridiculous is online stores that offer boxers and boxer briefs.

I was thinking the same thing a few weeks ago! You can go to Wal-Mart here in the USA and their men's underwear section spans one 15 X 5 ft aisle, yet the women's underwear/intimates section takes up at least a 100 sq ft space in the store! The men's section has maybe 4 or 5 brands to choose from and you have 3 choices: Full cut Y-Front briefs, traditional boxer shorts and boxer briefs. The women's section has over a dozen styles to choose from and twice as many brand names.

Yeah it's a shame. I've only seen one place that had few good selection of thongs in two separate department stores and special underwear stores themselves where you would have a wider range.

I have also been to stores that specialize in adult novelty items: adult videos, lotions, sex toys, lingerie, etc., because some of them have a small selection of menswear (bikinis, thongs, g-strings) but they are extremely expensive... and it's the same stuff that I get from China at a fraction of the cost!

I'm not talking about adult or novelty stores, it was an actual underwear store which carried a fair range of brands and styles, all the way from boxers, briefs to thongs. All in equal amounts.

I understand that, but in my part of the world, that's that only place to find them aside from ordering online.
