Another one of us is born

Post by JustSomeDude71 »

I was in Wal Mart yesterday in the menswear section. I like to see if there's anything new in the way of underwear, when I notice this boy... maybe 10 years old in the men's underwear section. He was just standing there staring at the selection of men's bikini and string bikini underwear. Looks like another one of US has awakened.

Reminds me of how I discovered my passion for bikinis, thongs and string bikinis... that's almost how it began for me. My mother would take us to K Mart and I would go to the menswear section and look at all the brands and styles of bikini underwear.

It is a shame that big box stores like Kmart, Sears, JCPenny, Macys no longer stock bikini underwear; most don't even have options online for thongs or string bikinis any longer. If my son one day says he wants to try underwear like mine, I can't take him to the local store and buy them, we'd have to order online and wait. My local Walmart has started carrying the Hanes string bikini that looks the previous Life by Jockey - I haven't purchased any, but saw they had them.

The Hanes string bikinis are nice. I'm wearing one right now. I like them!

That story brought back memories of the first time I started to buy expensive bikinis (prior to my lifelong love for thongs). I think I was 17 or 18. I was at a big box store that carried the higher-end brands and I was looking strictly at the string-style bikinis. An older man in his fifties who was shopping in the underwear section looked totally creepy; actually he looked like a stereotypical pedophile in a long overcoat. He walked up to me and said, "You have Cadillac taste". He had been watching me looking at the underwear and what style I was examining. I looked back at him and walked away. In reflection, 3 decades later, I should have replied "mind you own f***in business and by the way, I have Maserati taste".

I'm not from your neck of the woods so I don't know if the term "You have Cadillac taste" is meant as an insult or put down.
If that is not the case, then I wonder if perhaps you misread the situation? Looking back three decades or so,I'm sure many of us that are old enough to remember would admit to being a bit nervous and cagey about being seen checking out skimpy undies in a store. Does that mean that anyone observing me would automatically think I must be a pervert or paedophile especially if I happened to be wearing a long overcoat(which was common)at the time? Perhaps the guy was just relieved to see someone else being daring enough to contemplate buying string bikinis and felt compelled to engage you in conversation.

I remember the times I would shop in the store, I was always nervous about someone seeing my choice then the act of handing the item over to the clerk and the fear they would announce over the intercom, "price check, mens string bikini, 5 pack solids" and I would pay with cash so they wouldn't see my name on the credit card. Wow times have changed. while I would like the opportunity to purchase my underwear in person so I can feel the material and quality before buying, I do like being able to price compare online and read others reviews of the ones I'm thinking about buying. Oh and on a completely non-related topic, I've ridden in the Maserati GT convertible and for my money I much preferred the ride of the Cadillac Escalade, but the Maserati was fun.

I remember being that boy at 12 years old staring at the underwear aisle at sears. That was so long ago. Haha. Geez!

Wow. I always love to hear and am honestly surprised how resounding each of our experiences can be. I remember giving the Walmart underwear aisle a good maybe 5 double walk, as I literally stared nervously almost for 10 - 20 minutes or what felt like more every time, as my mom shopped elsewhere in the store. Checking out all the selections even though the Jockey ones were the main attraction.

The Jockey bikini briefs, and the string bikini briefs. Colorful, mix packs, with a fit model seemingly enjoying his beach shoot wearing them.

Eventually my mom caved in to the bikini briefs, claiming the string side ones were "once you get married" lol! I was so excited taking those home. It really is like this cool thing (of all the many other things that could be "cool" at that almost-teen age) that resonates and captures you! Except these are for life haha!
