Newbie to thongs and g-strings

Post by Adamas »

Hello everyone, I’m new here and want get my feet wet with thongs and g-strings. Up until about three years ago, I exclusively wore boxer briefs and trunks. I prefer trunks because of the shorter leg length. Then I switched to briefs. My go-to brands were Me Undies - all micro modal material and Andrew Christian (AC). I also have a few jocks from AC. I wanted more sexy undies, so got hooked on Gregg Homme (GH) bikinis in various materials. I’ve built an extensive GH bikini collection.

I want to try thongs and g-strings. I found some GH thongs and g-strings that I want to order. How long did it take to get used to wearing thongs and g-strings? How do you find wearing them when it’s hot and sweaty? How do you deal with swamp a**? What about when lounging, sleeping and sitting at desk job office setting? Do you wear them all day or just for certain occasions?

On another subject, I still wear trunks in the bedroom because that’s what my wife prefers. I’m slowly trying to get her used to me wearing bikinis in the bedroom. Thongs and g-strings will be another project all together. My wife is not crazy about thongs and doesn’t think they are comfortable. She only wears them on very rare occasions when she doesn’t want to show panty line.

First off, Welcome to the forums.

For how long it takes to get use to thongs is a depends questions. Some of it comes down to the thong. I've been wearing them for 20 plus years now and there are some that are comfortable right off, some need the right adjustment, others seem to take time to get use to the fit of them. Of course there are some that just don't do it at all. In general it may take a couple of wearings to get use to them with some readjustments at times.

You are talking about a brand that I haven't tried, but have heard they are well liked. Also modal fabrics are typically a good thong option for comfort. Thongs/G-string are an excellent options for hot sweaty weather. I wear them more often than bikinis through the summer for coolness and depending on fabric can retain less sweaty. Also dry quicker if get sweaty and don't want to shower, because you are going to get sweaty some more. I wear thongs doing everything with no issues, but some thongs are better than others.

Sounds like your wife should experiment with other fabrics and brands of thongs if she finds them uncomfortable. Why wear something that isn't comfortable just to eliminate VPL. If the the first selection doesn't work after a few wearings then try another style, fabric, and/or brand. Don't just give up.

Thank you, glad to be here! I’m addicted to undies. It’s a hobby for me. A fun one at that!

Modal and micro modal are my favorite undies fabric. It’s the most overall comfortable fabric in my opinion, although not the most moisture wicking or quick drying. I also like fabrics such as nylon/spandex, nylon/polyester, etc. (love the stretch in these). I tread water in the fetish territory with mesh, lace and sheer undies.

GH is now my go-to brand. They offer all styles, materials and colors. I may need to edit my statement about micro modal above. Check out the GH Xcite collection. Micro modal jacquard knit with an air jet technology. 87% micro modal/7% polyamide/6% elastane. Highly breathable and fairly quick drying for the micro modal material blend!

It’s rare that my wife will wear a thong. She doesn’t feel comfortable wearing them. She doesn’t like the “floss” up her butt feeling. Maybe I can help her along after my thong/g-string experiment ;) She loves her Victoria’s Secret (VS) though. I have no qualms about buying undies, bras and lingerie for her at VS.

Always good to welcome a new name to the forum, and you will certainly get lots of advice from the other followers when it comes to choosing brands and styles of underwear.
Gregg Homme happens to be one of my favourite brands when it comes to g-strings,but they can be on the pricey side. Daniel Alexander is another brand I would recommend. One thing I would say is that price doesn't always guarantee comfort. Some of my favourite strings are a fraction of the price of others,so it can be a case of trial and error until you find what really suits you. Make sure you get the sizing right, particularly the under strap. You will soon know if you've gone too small(lol),but you should barely notice you're wearing something between your butt cheeks once you get the sizing etc correct.

On the subject of wearing trunks in bed to please your other half. I personally believe any man should wear what HE finds comfortable, be that a bikini,thong,g-string or nothing at all. Just imagine the flak a man would get if he dictated what his wife could or couldn't wear in bed,or anywhere else for that matter. I'm sure your good lady would soon get used to the sight of you slipping under the duvet in a butt revealing thong, and the trunks would be consigned to the back of your underwear drawer.

@ TANGA TANGA thank you for the welcome!

GH can be on the pricey side, but I always wait for 20-25% off sale. GH is very high quality. No issues so far. I’ll check out Daniel Alexander.

I agree with your assessment on wearing trunks in bed to please my wife. She’s always been turned on with me wearing trunks; not necessarily a preference. We never really discussed it in detail. I’ll break her in by starting with bikinis

Adamas, welcome to the forum; here you will find a great group that will help build your confidence. I've worn bikinis for year and thongs occasionally; then switched to trunks and got married, fast forward 7 years I found TBD and read the many posts and reviews and it took a little time but I told my wife I wanted to wear thongs again - she reacted like many wives do at first, but after a little chat she was fine with it. If you really want to try thongs, I hope your wife will be supportive as well. If she doesn't like thongs, then she just hasn't found the right one(s) - it can take a little time to find the ones that are perfect. Since telling my wife I want to add thongs to the mix, I have worn a pair of trunks only one time. I've worn a thong to the office, sitting all day, lounging, whatever and no issues. I live in the hot and humid south so the only time I've had an issue is on a really hot day where I was more active than I had planned and wore a 100% cotton thong, it can be a little uncomfortable (but mostly because the string is a little larger than I like). But honestly, wearing a thong is cooler if you are wearing shorts, you get a nice breeze across your butt.
If you like Gregg Homme bikinis, they probably have a thong in the same style you could try and I agree GH can be pricey, in fact xcite does have a thong and a g-string. Some of my favorites are from Papi, but they aren't being made right now. I agree with Tanga, sometimes pricey doesn't equal more comfortable. Welcome and good luck

@ David_NC thank you for the welcome and advice. My wife has always been supportive of me wearing bikinis, but not in the bedroom. That’s the barrier. I’m going to chat with her about me wanting to wear bikinis in the bedroom. Once (or if?) she is okay with that, then I’ll chat with her about g-strings and thongs. She probably give me the eye roll when I mention g-strings and thongs, but will get over it. It may be difficult trying to break the wear them in the bedroom barrier though.

By the way, I ordered one g-string and two thongs from GH (Torridz g-string and thong and Xcite thong). The Torridz is another favorite of mine. It’s a sheer HyperStretch fabric with 8-way stretch (76% nylon, 24% spandex) in a wide away of colors including pink, purple, aqua, silver. Lightweight, stretchy and very comfortable! There is nothing like slipping on a pair of these undies in one of the hot colors!

Hi Adamus. Great to see you settling in and contributing to the forum. I have to confess that I am puzzled and at a loss to understand why your wife is okay with you wearing bikinis, but not in the bedroom. Do you have children that like to climb into bed with their Mummy and Daddy, and therefore she doesn't want them to see you in a skimpy bikini? That is the only reasonable answer I can think of.Mind you,if that was the case then you wouldn't be bothering to mention g-strings and thongs.
Could it be that you have such an amazing body and manhood that your good lady has to have you cover up in long trunks otherwise she couldn't keep her hands off you and neither of you would get any sleep?(lol). If your pleas continue to fall on deaf ears, then as a last resort I would suggest you retire to the spare room and withhold all forms of intimacy until your rights to wear whatever you please in bed are respected! That might just do the trick(lol).

@ TANGA TANGA: You have some valid questions. My wife just loves to see me in trunks. FYI, the trunks I wear are not long trunks. They are very low rise, similar to low rise boxer briefs, almost like a brief cut. My children are 15 and 17 years old. I need to point blank ask what her reservations are about me wearing bikinis. I love to see her in sexy lingerie, especially in skimpy undies, so maybe I can parlay that. Buy her a g-string or thong from Victoria’s Secret and explore together with my GH undies.

I’m tall and slender with an average build. I have an average cock size. Nah, I won’t be retiring to the spare bedroom and withholding all forms of intimacy if I can’t get her on board with bikinis, g-strings or trunks in bedroom. That seems extreme to be honest. I know you were joking about that statement :) We have frequent and amazing sex, so absolutely no issues there.

Thanks for taking my tongue in cheek comments in the nature they were intended. I'm sure you will eventually get your own way,and continue to enjoy "frequent and amazing sex!"lol. p.s I hope your wife never sees this,or you might find yourself celibate for quite some time!
