How do you deal with those who don't understand?

Post by JustSomeDude71 »

I realize that not everyone here is an American like me, and that attitudes about men's underwear is different in Western Europe, Asia and South America are more laid back and liberal... but still every once in a while we have all had the misfortune of crossing paths with some ignorant, knuckle-dragging moron that feels the need to express their puritanical opinion about the underwear and swimwear that some men prefer to wear. Americans, as a whole, tend to be more conservative when it comes to what men should wear down under. How do you deal with people that think that men should have no business wearing thongs, bikinis and g-strings :?:

Firstly, you have to accept that some people are NEVER going to be cool about guys wearing anything briefer than boxers for underwear and dork/board shorts for beachwear. Tell them that thongs were originally made for men,not women, and they will turn a deaf ear. If some jerk in a pair of baggy boxers comes up to you in the gym locker room or a communal fitting room in a shop and makes derogatory comments about your thong or whatever you're wearing, point him in the direction of the nearest full length mirror and ask him if he knows how much of a dork he looks in his Superman boxers, that any self respecting 10 year old would think are naff? Lastly, just ignore the knuckle dragging moron and be grateful you don't follow him and the other sheep when it comes to choosing your underwear!

Like T I would do my best to ignore them. It may get under the skin, but it is their lost what they are missing out on. So far I have not had any issues with any negativity. Mostly I've only been seen in bikinis and swim bikini briefs. I'm not in a locker rooms much and when I have I sported a bikini more often than a thong. If I did have a thong on, I kept my rear out of line of sight. Though I am working on just acting like it is normal underwear when I change, since it is for me. We just need to do what we like and act natural at.

I see more negative posts from women than I do men. Especially on, say for instance, Jockey's official facebook page. They like to throw around words like "Man-Panties" or "Mankinis" or "Manties"

What's ironic about America's attitude on underwear and the genders is, that women are free to wear whatever they want to. Women even wear men's underwear and nobody gives it a second look. They even make women's underwear that looks like men's underwear. But a man wearing a bikini or a thong? You would think someone threw a skunk in a crowded room... watch them run away in terror!

The rest of the world fears disease, famine, tyranny and civil war.... Americans are afraid of underwear! Pretty stupid!

JustSomeDude71, unfortunately you speak the truth. It sucks. I see the same thing in Canada. I feel so frustrated with the mindset in North America. Cool to hear another guy express my same thoughts.

Personally I think that men who have been wearing the same kind of underwear since they graduated out of diapers need to seriously re-evaluate themselves.

It's different with women though. Once they hit their teens, they ditch the granny panties that mommy has been buying them since they were a toddler and go out and stock up on sexy thongs, g-strings and bikini panties. And to that I say "Thank god!" Unless they are miss Patty Prude and they wear granny panties until they die an old, childless spinster.

Men however, continue to buy the same style underwear that mommy has been picking for them since they quit wearing Pampers... only now they don't have fire trucks, rocket ships and spider man printed on them.

Women are free to be independent when it comes to their choices in the underwear they buy and wear but men are castigated, shunned and shamed if they walk away from the boxer and brief plantation. If you're invited to go camping with the bros over the weekend and you come out of your tent early in the morning wearing a pair of Jockey Elance bikini briefs... chances are, you're not going to get invited to the next camping trip!

 This is a very thoughtful question, and here is my opinion. I grew up in the late 1950s and early 1960s. The main choice of swim trunks for boys for everyday wear that I can recall was the boxer style. I was extremely thin at the time and was ashamed of my body, so there was little desire to go swimming. BUT...there was Charles Atlas in the comic books, resplendent in that (too large!) leopard-skin bikini!! What beautiful proportions! And look at that tan! (Obvious even in black-and-white photos.) Those pictures were probably taken in the 1930s or 1940s, but I really zeroed in on that beautiful navel, so overexposed, and those great abs! THAT'S what I wanted for myself! I found out for myself early on that I was gay, and I discovered those infamous gay "beefcake" magazines at the newsstand. Between Chuck and the gay models, I discovered the benefits of bodybuilding and moderate tanning, the eroticism of the navel, and the joys of microbikinis for men. My first foray into smaller men's swimsuits was Speedo's semibikinis in the mid 1970s. I was asked why I was "wearing a bikini." I replied that I liked it and that guys on swim teams wore the same kind of suit for freedom of movement. (I think I may have also mentioned that smaller suits were pretty common in Europe.) I later graduated to two different bikinis with 1/2 inch side straps and what I will call a "3/4 seat"(!) to my current Skinzwear Rio Microbikini with a "half seat":):) I have made great progress in my bodybuilding and tanning as well as my ab work, and plan to continue pursuing them. My interests are not at the typical public swimming pool. They center around vacations at places look Ocracoke Island on the Outer Banks, where I know I will find a likeminded community of bikini enthusiasts as well as nudists. I will enjoy just strolling around, seeing, being seen and working on my tan. But if I wound up being asked about my choice anyway, I would simply reply that I am proud of my body and enjoy the sense of freedom and exhilaration that a microbikini can provide. Or, if that person is sounding harsh or judgemental, I would probably just say nothing and walk away. Human nature being what it is, that person may be secretly envious or ashamed. The important factor for each one of us is the personal enjoyment our choices bring to our lives. Those of you with spouses or partners have the opportunity to enjoy bikinis/micros/thongs together to enhance your sensuality and sexuality. If you have kids, you can introduce them to the "bikini look" early through your own comfortable example, and get them their own to enjoy at an appropriate age. Their bikinis may in turn inspire them to exercise and enjoy Mom's healthy cooking, and may even help make it easier to have "The Talk" about the "new abilities" that come with puberty. I guess about the best way I can sum up this type of situation is relate something I remember reading about Harry Truman. One of his favorite pastimes when he was president was reading the "nut mail!":):):) Furthermore, Skinzwear has been around here in the U.S for many years, so those skimpy suits must be selling well! And the more they sell, the more guys will be wearing them, continuing to chip away at "The Shock of the Nation" till it caves in like the Berlin Wall.

I too remember Charles Atlas and his over sized leopard print bikini. Am I right in thinking his bodybuilding course was called "Dynamic Tension" and didn't rely on heavy weights? For anyone familiar with the group 10cc(I'm Not in Love,The Wall Street Shuffle,Rubber Bullets etc), they have a song called Sand in my Face on their first album, which is all about a puny guy who loses his girlfriend to a muscle hunk called Alex, and writes to Mr Atlas asking him to help him get his girl back by sending him his Dynamic Tension course. The course works and the new improved guy gets revenge on big Alex by kicking sand in his face(lol).

Have to commend you for standing up for yourself and being strong in your commitment to wearing the briefest swimwear that brings you personal enjoyment. As you say,if people don't like it,you can turn(the other butt cheek) and walk away!

Has anyone sreached for info on how seeing men in thongs and micro bikini's affects kids? If so can post a link please.
Also what is up with everyone so afraid of the male body and it's parts. OMG! It seems that's all I hear and haven't even put a thong on yet.
Maybe with all this lives matter stuff going on we should preach MALE BODY MATTER! I'm being a smart ass or anything everyone life matters.
Just my little question/rant for the day.
Happy micro suit.
