OKay, so i have a pet peeve! Why do guys (even those into underwear) call bikini underwear briefs. When someone tells me they wear briefs (which are hot too) i think of well briefs, but then as they get more descriptive it turns out the are bikinis. Thoughts?

On the same continuum, why is it that every swimwear less than shorts referred to as a Speedo? I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard my thong refereed to a a Speedo, when it quite obviously is not.
A bikini is a bikini
A thong is a thong
A brief is a brief
But for some reason people have trouble being accurate.

In Italy, but maybe in any non-engish language country, bikini is 2 pieces female swimsuit, name from Bikini Atoll, a nuclear tests site during II world war. Nothing else.
From bikini, that starts by "bi" (=2) other terms were created: monokini, trikini.. All female suits in 1 or 3 pieces and so on.
I recently discovered the male bikini meaning.

Some of the online sites in China often wrongly label underwear as thongs even when the picture of the item clearly shows they are not. They are also guilty of including words like sissy in the description which is a pet peeve of mine.

Ugh! So annoying… i hate when brands throw in sissy in the description. When I google awry to pull up their page the description says “gay underwear for men” I’m just like

how can an article of clothing define your sexuality??

I have a lot of Awry thongs. I emailed awry and let them know that not all men who wear thongs are gay. They did respond saying they would change their description.

When brands, especially Asian brands on sites like Ebay, throw as many terms as possible on a piece of clothing, it is purely so that the item will appear more often in people's searches. I agree, it is annoying especially when you are trying to search for a specific style, but I don't think it is much deeper than that.

I had an old friend (female) from college ask me if I "still wear those tiny briefs." It didn't bother me too much...

If you are in the United States and order anything from outside USA, it probably will get stuck in Customs due to tariffs and will be discarded by the shipper. Be sure the supplier says shipping from a USA Warehouse.

Or label them in the product description as "gay, sissy, panties" when they are obviously men's underwear. also yes, calling a bikini a thong, when it is clearly not a thong!
