Finding Unique Swimwear in Local Stores.
I love exploring local boutiques for unique swimwear options that you can't find in big chain stores. What if the hidden gems in our neighborhoods hold the key to redefining beach fashion? Could it be that the most eye-catching styles and sizes are waiting for us just around the corner, challenging the mainstream trends?

In the 1970's there was a store for female impersonators and drag queens in NY City called Lees Mardi Gras. He invented Lee's Gaff G-string which was a triangle of cloth and an elastic band. It was used so you could tuck and look flat under a g-string or thong, and worked quite well. I bought replacements over the years, then Patricia Fields took over with the same design, so I was able to wear them until recently.

I still have vintage underwear/swimwear from the early days of Kiniki as well as various garments from long gone stores like BHS,Topman and Burtons in the UK. Hard to believe that thongs, g-strings and string bikinis for men were once commonplace in high street stores.

Re: Vintage Underwear-what do you own
Some of the vintage underwear that I have are Rise wear bikinis and thongs, Fredrick's of Hollywood Men's thong and Bike pro line jockstraps
Re: Vintage Underwear-what do you own
I have two Jockey 92% Polyester 8% Lycra men's Bikinis and one Calvin Klein Thong 97% Nylon 3% Lycra, with a narrow rear strap, both labeled Made in USA in skimpy styles so they must be vintage! I am heavier now, but these are stretchy and still fit nice and snug.

Mainly Joe boxer thongs and a couple fruit of the loom ones.
Re: Vintage Underwear-what do you own
I have the Jockey thong from 1998 or 99. That is my oldest and first thong. I also have a CK thong from around the same time and the original 2xist and a RIPs thong. I have the original The Sock underwear from undergear, circa early 2000s
Re: Vintage Underwear-what do you own
I have 8 of the original Speedo swim thongs, a hand full of Prevail Sports thongs from back in the day, and a few original Skinzwear thongs from when they first had a mail order catalog.

From high school, I saved one pair of polyester snake-print bikinis from Montgomery Ward. And a couple jockey life low rise briefs. I’ve posted pics on my X/bluesky if anyone is curious.
I recently purchased an unopened 1985 tube of Jockey elance bikinis - blue and white. One striped pair, a polka dot and a grid pattern. I’m gentle with them, but they are still wearable and a great throw back.
