What are some common misconceptions that you have heard about men's thongs from both men and women?
I'll start:
That men's thongs are the same as women's thongs and your manhood is getting pressed and squished and your testicles are spilling out the sides.
On the contrary, men's thongs are quite comfortable and if you choose the right size and fabric, they are extremely well-fitting and comfortable! While I have ordered some thongs before that, when they finally arrived, were obviously made for women... buyer beware!

"That wearing thongs feels like having an all day wedgie." On the contrary thongs are extremely comfortable. The sizing and fit is critical but the strap between the cheeks is not uncomfortable at all. Its a different sensation but once I got used to it, I didn't want to wear anything else.

Misconception that I hear is that if you wear a thong you must be a part of the LGBTQ+ community.
Wrong! Many men wear thongs because we like the fit, comfort and freedom they provide. We like the implied sex appeal. We like the tan line, for those of us that wear swim thongs.
For women: wearing a thong means you are a Slut.
Wrong! Wearing a thong means you like the article of clothing, nothing more.

The Weddgie - Nope, material where it is meant to be is comfortable. Material where it is not meant to be is uncomfortable.
Made for Women - Nope, designed for men and more suited to the men's anatomy. Women have a place it can disappear into and size and fit is of vital importance to them, but men have a package needs holding and a thong does it to perfection.

For men: if you wear a thong you are really strange, or you are trying to be feminine. Why would you want the strap up your butt, it is uncomfortable. You should wear “normal” underwear instead.
For women: it’s not appropriate for an older woman or a woman with a more curvy figure to wear them

+1 on the misconception "Thongs are only for LGBTQ+ people". How did we get here? Men in ancient cultures wore thongs, strings, loincloths all the time, and I'd bet most of them were straight. I'm straight and I wear thongs cause they're so comfy.
Anyone, man or woman, can wear a thong, who cares how old you are? This came up a while ago and someone posted "no one will notice you if you're over 25 anyway", so if you're older, no one will care

The only issue these days appears to be "How much do you weigh?"
for a man with a waist size over 40 inches, thongs are hard to come by.
It pisses me off, because it tells me that what men's underwear makers are saying is, "You're too fat for thongs, so enjoy your huge, baggy Y-fronts!"
If they can make thong panties for women that weight 400 pounds, why can they make something for men who don't necessarily look like Calvin Klein underwear models?!
That's why large men (such as myself) have to wear women's underwear as a (sometimes) only option because they make the styles and fabrics we like in bigger sizes. Once men's underwear makers realize the market potential they are ignoring, I can stop wearing panties.

Ironically most of the people saying things like this are women, so in a way, they are calling us weird and creepy for doing what they do... which somehow isn't weird and creepy...
somehow. But somehow, that's not hypocrisy...
somehow.

+1 on the LGBTQ2+ misconception. I recently had a conversation with a Korean lady. She was tanning in a thong bikini at the gym pool, and I was just intrigued (kinda rare to see an Asian in a thong bikini). So, I decided to tan next to her. I first stripped down to my thong and didn't say a word to her. Then, after 10 minutes, I asked her if she was Korean (in Korean). She said yes. I then asked her if my swimsuit bothered her, and she said no. Since she was fine with me and my swimsuit, I kept talking to her in Korean.
During the conversation, I told her that I was surprised to see another Asian in a thong bikini. She then told me that she was surprised to see a guy in a thong and thought that I was gay. So, I had to explain to her that I got into thongs for tanning. I tried to be flirty with her to prove my 'heterosexuality', but she was married so I didn't cross the line. I told her that wearing thongs helped me on my weight loss journey, and she said she might ask her husband to wear thongs.
