Who here aqquired thier first bikini or colored briefs just by chance like me without asking for them. My sister and her boyfriend gave me my first pair of bikini briefs (light blue and white). Mom did not have a fit. she was cool with it. My mother asked me if I wanted a pack of colored briefs when I was a Senior. She asked me. I did not ask her. Usually it is the other way around.

In June of 1986, when I was 14, I was with my mom at K-Mart and we were in the men's section, when suddenly out of the blue, she picked up a pack of Hang Ten micro bikinis and asked me if I wanted to try wearing them instead of the big, huge Y-fronts that I had always worn. I didn't hesitate and said "Yes" that was 39 years ago, and I have never been back to boring, baggy tighty whities!

When you say micro bikinis do you mean microfiber?? It was my foray into colored underwear. Didn't really wear bikinis exclusively until age 40. Tried all types until settling on bikinis. Not because I look good in them but due to comfort. Always wore FTL ribbed colored or jockey low rise colored in college.

Is there a story about what made your sister and her boyfriend buy you underwear? That sounds funny hah.

There is a story. My sister was in Brazil as an Exchange Student. I go to visit her. I was in 11th grade. Her boyfriend and her pick me up from the airport. The next day we're talking about what to do, where to go, how's home. And then she says we got you some underwear and hands me a 2 pack. Don't know why they did it. She was a goofball. Maybe they thought I'd look good in them?? Maybe they thought I'd like the comfort? Maybe they thought it would be a confidence boost? Maybe they thought I could use some new underwear and it was in their budget?? Big sister teasing little brother?? Having little brother stand out in the locker room?? Hoping mom would ask little brother why he came back with bikini briefs??

No, they were cotton, just very skimpy bikini briefs, with 1" sides.

I was also shopping with my mom at Kmart. And saw a pack of string bikinis. I had (still have) thick thighs. I said they might fit better with less material. She was okay with it and got them for me. No fuss or weird looks.

I actually had to navigate some headwinds when I was 13 and beginning high school and moving to bikini briefs in the late 80s!

Never had that asked before.

Not my mum but the German mum of a friend once gave me a tiny blue bikini swimsuit which belonged to my friend's brother and which she said he didn't need. This was back in the 70s and it was made of a really lightweight nylon type fabric which, though appeared too small to wear, stretched to barely cover me. I wore it quite a few times to pools in Germany and the beach here. I think I also wore it a couple of times to swimming lessons at school.
