Has anyone worn thong underwear to the beach or a pool? Especially if they are made from polyester or elastane? I may have a little time this weekend at a secluded beach and I don't have a proper thong swim suit on hand but plenty of underwear.

I've worn Joe Snyder bulge thongs as swimwear before! It worked just fine!

Yes I do this all the time, when I’m pushing it, I’ll wear slightly see through thongs or G-strings too, great fun.

Ive used joe snyder and cover male thongs to swim in a private backyard pool. Some of the lighter colors were a little see thru, not a big deal in private.. I assume swim thongs are double lined or with thicker fabric.

I’ve been eyeing these! Do they hold the package in well?

Most of the time I wear 'underwear' thongs when suntanning in the garden or laying out at the beach. I'm a fan of iSwim and I like their underwear styles a lot. They also have swimwear, but less different types of thongs.
Almost all my 'underwear' thongs I ordered in a fabric called WET. This fabric looks about the same as lycra/spandex swimwear, but is thinner and stretchier, and dries faster. It is close to see-through, but it isn't. Wearing a suit in this fabric feels like wearing nothong at all. The elastic is also less tight then on swimwear. My favourite colors are black and royal blue. This fabric is available in six colors.
This is an example of a thong in WET fabric:

So I managed to get out to the beach yesterday and thonged for a bit. It was an absolutely gorgeous day! I wore one of Ergowear Hip thong in "electric blue", which is basically a royal blue. It was an decent substitute for actual thong swimwear. It dried fast and wasn't see thru when wet. I chose this thong because it has a pretty sturdy waist band and from the front it looks like a bikini brief. I had to adjust it fairly frequently as the thinner underwear waist band bunched up when wet. By the way this was my first experience wearing a thong on a beach. It was a very secluded beach and only a few people walked by me with no reaction. Very fun!

As far as I’m concerned they are brilliant, the fit and comfort are perfect for me, but I’m sure they’re not for everyone. I do “swing” a bit in them, they don’t fully support me, but I like that too.
