My dad got me into thongs

This is probably an odd question but has anyones father been the one to get them into thongs?

Growing up I never really thought that much about my dad's underwear because why would I? And I didn't really think there was anything odd about them because it's not like I had many points of reference for what other men wore. My only real takeaway as a small child was his underwear was much smaller than my underoos and nowhere near as cool since he didn't have Spiderman on his, haha. He did have some pairs that were animal print and I remember asking if I could have some because they looked cool, like something a caveman wore but he just laughed it off.

It was only around the tail end of elementary/beginning of middle school when I really started to understand that his underwear wasn't common. Heck, changing for PE told me even the briefs I wore were rare. This sort of coincided with pubtery for me so I naturally got curious and tried a couple of his thongs on in secret. They were definitely too large for me so in my stupidity I just would just sort of pull my underwear up my butt for a similar effect.

It wasn't until I was 16 that I asked if I could get thongs. I hated it, it wasn't like my dad was especially close minded or conservative, he wore thongs for God's sake but still, it was embarrassing. But I figured I had to since I'd need a credit card to order some online. What I didn't know was both FTL and Joe Boxer sold thongs, at the time anyway, so rather than get pricey ones online we took a trip to K-Mart and Wal-Mart to get me what he called 'starter thongs.' I think he didn't want to spend a lot of money in case I didn't like them. And to be fair I almost didn't! Maybe it was just those brands or incorrect sizing but those first thongs weren't super comfortable and I didn't know if they were supposed to be, you know? Maybe thongs were just meant to look sexy but feel tight and rub into you. I sure as hell wasn't about to ask my dad if he always had a wedgie so I just sort of persevered.

After a couple of months of me wearing them at home or one the weeeked, I knew better to risk being seen in them at school, we looked into buying me some more expensive brands. I distinctly remember sitting at the computer with him thong shopping, him recommending CK and Olaf Benz, and a couple other brands. There was a microfiber thong from Jockey that he said was new so he ended up buying us both a pair.

So yeah, he ended up shaping my underwear preferences, now I wear thongs 90% of the time, and was wondering if anyone had anything similar happen to them?

I believe one or two members discovered thongs through their stepfathers or mother's boyfriends, but I'm not sure about their actual fathers.You don't mention your mother. Was she not around when you were growing up? I assume if she was, she didn't object to your dad wearing thongs or buying them for you.

Thanks for the welcome! Hopefully it wasn't too interesting, I tried my best not to make my life seem like some perverted fan fiction.

And my mom was there, just not super relevant to my origin story. She wore a mix of thongs and normal panties unlike my dad who just wore thongs. Unsure if they both wore them or how that worked out, again wasn't a conversation I ever wanted to have haha.

I don't know if he asked her though, or if he just bought them for me. He did have a few stipulations before getting me some. Like maintaining proper hygiene, making sure they didn't stick out of my pants when I was out and I wasnt allowed to wear them to school. The first rule was a given and I didn't really argue with the last two. I think he was afraid I would get bullied or harassed which was nice of him.

I want to ask...what made you in first place to ask for a thong , why did you insist to wear a thong, even it seemed uncomfortable and how do you feel knowing that you and your dad share the same style of underwear...

I guess I inherited the thong gene huh? Lol. And thanks, I'm very fortunate to have a really great dad.

To answer your questions, my interest in thongs started in line with puberty which I think is common. I was always content with wearing briefs until I saw pictures of women in thongs online and thought they looked really sexy. And then I found some old International Male catalogs my dad used to order from in our garage and surprise! Figured out I liked men too because of it.

I put up with the discomfort for a couple different reasons, one was I was very stubborn, and two because I felt sexy wearing them. And feeling hot, it was sort of worth them not being comfortable.

Lastly, I don't know if it feels any different really. I guess it gave us something else to bond over but it didn't come up too often. Like I mentioned, in college I'd text him a link to a brand I liked or he woild be more upfront and send me some that he thought I'd like in a care package, which was very embarrassing but sweet.

Yeah, I think it's hard for people to wrap their head around it. Thongs were just his underwear and there wasn't any stigma to it.

In my early teens, my friend and I were ogling the pages of his mom's Frederick's catalogue and when we got to the mens section, my mind was blown by what I saw. Shortly afterward at home, I opened my dad's top drawer and boom: thongs.

Not many, but a good handful. A couple cotton ones, a couple made of lyrca spandex (Fagioni, one white one black) and a dark green Gregg Homme "slinky" thong with black side clips. The fabric on that one was very eyebrow-raising: masculine, but erotic.

I was 99% certain that it was my mom who got him these. She had a pretty racy bra/panty collection, so I assumed she was the one buying these for him.

Yes great story indeed. I never would have considered if anybody got influenced to the thongs from their dad, makes sense though. Starting out so young how did your preferences evolve over the years? I.E. Did you stick with the Calvin’s or Olaf Benz’s or continue trying other brands? What about in the dating scene? Did you keep a pair or two of boxer briefs or briefs or did you just own it and your partner could chose to be supportive/accepting or not?
