I had surgery in 2021 and was shaved from chin to toe, it became itchy and I didn't love the whole body hairless on me. I like the dusting of hair on my legs and chest - I do use a guard on the razor to keep the oddly long hairs that sprout from my chest trimmed and also like to keep my arm pit hair trimmed. Honestly, I can't imagine not keeping your pubic area at the very least trimmed, seems like normal self care maintenance. I have thought about using Nair for men on my balls to get them extra smooth but haven’t done so yet.
My experience with Nair For Men is that it can burn, smells funky, and doesn't always work as well as I wish it would! It was not a pleasant experience...I accidentally got some on my nipples when I tried it on my chest, and it made those burn...it wasn't any better when I used it down there, either.

If you want to be really smooth, take the plunge and get a full Brazilian wax down there...you'll stay smooth for about a month, and when the hair grows back in it won't be stubbly and itchy but rather soft and smooth (because it's brand-new hair growing, and not an older follicule that was cut by a razor...it's the most amazing, incredible feeling to be that smooth! I've had it done and I love it! :D :D

I replied to this thread last October, but want to add an update. I live in Australia so we're just coming out of winter, it'll be the first day of spring tomorrow.
I've tried everything from Nair for men, shaving, epilator finally opting for waxing. Basically everything off from neck to top of my legs.
Last year I tried a small home IPL gadget and was getting OK results with it, but it was slow. At the start of this winter I thought I'd just bite the bullet and just go full bore down the laser hair removal route.
It's pretty expensive at about $300 a session, I've had three so far and have another one in two weeks, the results are amazing, I'm almost completely hair free now, way better than the home IPL thingy.
It feels so good not to have to shave or make appointments for waxing and I have almost no regrowth.

So for me it's a big yes from me to manscaping, I feel wonderfully smooth and I love it, so does the wife.
I've even been buying new thongs and swim thongs ready for summer.

That's great! One of these days I'm going to bite that bullet, too, and do laser hair removal...good to know that it works well, even "down there" and "back there!"

How bad did it hurt down in the taint area? I shaved once down there and loved the feel especially with wearing thongs no pulling and so much cleaner and comfortable, however I did get a trash and want to avoid it by lasering it off, I remember getting hair lasered off my forehead /unibrow and it was somewhat unpleasant.

Hi there SnakeEyes, maybe I'm lucky, but the whole laser thing has been almost completely painless. The young lady doing the treatment kept asking me if I was comfortable or not and when it did hurt a bit she dialled the power down a bit. When she did my backside, it was completely pain free, (four treatments so far and all have been pain free) I think its important to go to a place that has experience, bot just in lasers, but with guys. Apparently they do heaps of guys, it's becoming very popular. I really like the look at the beach now.

My ex-wife shaved me once... down there. TBH, the sex was amazing! I felt like I was so deep inside of her, but when the hair started growing back, it felt like I had ants on my balls! It itched so bad I think I came close to the point of insanity a few times!

Next time get it waxed....you'll stay smooth longer and when the hair grows back it's soft and not stubbly/itchy!

What razors do folks use?

I have a 2023 Philips Norelco BodyGroom 7000, but I still manage to give myself a major cut each session (and had similar issues with my old Norelco).

I was thinking about getting a cartridge razor and trying that (I saw the Venus pubic razor on Amazon https://a.co/d/8AYNjDd and was considering trying that. It seems like it does not shave as close, but is less likely to nick, so you have to use it more frequently (which is fine with me).

If lasering wasn't so expensive, I would do that on certain spots and below and trim the rest. I always wished I had waxed or lasered when I was a cyclist cause I had so much irritation caused by hair down there.

I'm going to try shaving again down below more regularly to get into the habit.

OR, I have the P-N BodyGroom razor, too, but haven't really had any problem getting cut, or even nicked.Try going slowly, drawing the razor across the skin like brushstrokes, right on the surface without pushing into the skin. I do my shaving every few days only as needed after my shower. I've never been hairy to begin with, and the hair I'm shaving now is light. NOW...when shaving...there(!) :? the trick is to go carefully! You'll find the best approach through practice. Have some good body lotion to smooth on all of the shaved areas just after you finish. You will like the results!

I typically trim but the passed few times tried a safety razor. It has worked surprisingly well both times. I was sweating bullets thinking I was gonna nick the boys but didn’t have a single nick in the end and very limited itch. I’m not super concerned getting baby’s butt smooth so I just go with the grain and call it good.
