When I put a thong on I do a couple squats and pull the back up a little.That way it’s deep and tight.

Yeah, I guess I "set" my thongs and gstrings like that, too. You gotta make sure you can feel the fabric between your cheeks

These days, I have the strap go deep into my crack. I don’t pull it out.

I just put them on like normal underwear. I don't find it that comfortable for the rear strap to be all the way in. I like it resting gently between the cheeks. I have an athletic build and well developed glutes so it doesn't even really go that far in, even if I pull it up, which I don't do. I like even tension in the rear band.

I love this analogy. I thought about this topic a bit more - subconsciously I think I always bring the pouch up first get it how I like it, then finished pulling the thong on and get the strap how I like it. Does anyone else, without even thinking about it, put the fix the front or back first?

You gotta put the pouch in the correct position 1st then the backstrap. If you dont it, you meat can be in an awkward spot and not let you enjoy the thong as designed.

yeah pouch first, then I pull the back where I want it and make sure there is even tension in the back strap.
