I'm not sure whether this is for "formal" sports or not (never really did too much of that!) but I do wear thongs and bikinis for working out. I'm fine with either one...no real preference beyond what I would wear anyway (it's kind of a rule of thumb for me that every piece of underwear I own I can wear for any occasion or purpose.) I guess there might be some hesitation nowadays for appearing in a locker room in a thong though as I've mentioned elsewhere, I'm at a point in my life now where that's unlikely to happen anyway...

I usually wear bikini briefs under my nylon swim shorts. I wear thongs and bikinis 24/7. I own no boxer/boxer briefs or Y-Front tightie whities. I do own a few panties, but only wear them to bed. When I work out, I swim, I love water aerobics, it's best for your body without causing long-term damage to your hips, legs, knees and feet.

For gym and work out i.e outside running i wear a thong.intimissimi are the best for gym and exersice because their material is microfiber so they dry really fast. I have 4 pairs of them and i make a rotation.
For sauna or hamam i will change to a cheapest pair, like old thongs or really cheap ones.

I wear thongs while weightlifting in the gym, swimming, and walking/hiking. Occasionally I'll wear them while biking. I'm a fan of old-school running shorts, too, (the ones with the short inseams) and will wear a thong under them to keep everything "in place".

Welcome to the forum. Sounds like you'll be quite an addition to the group.

I wear em while running lifting and boxing, I wear swim bikinis while swimming, haven't tried thongs while doing jujitsu though.

There are only two sporting activities that I don’t wear a thong. The first is cycling where it is best to wear nothing under my cycling shorts. As I tend to ride longer distances I don’t need anything rubbing or chafing. The other is when I swim laps. The only reason I’m not wearing a thong is because my gym prohibits thongs. In this cast I wear the smallest bikini I can find. Otherwise if I’m lifting, hiking, using the elliptical trainer, rowing, or what ever I have a thong next to my skin keeping everything in place.

I wear just my gstring while doing weights at home. Feels free and helps to cool off.

I wear a thong with any sport - can’t get more support and be comfortable than a thong.

I've never liked jocks, how they fit and how they feel. This was so much the case that back in high school while the other guys had jocks, I ditched my jock in favor of only wearing some spandex shorts. They were basically like bike shorts without the padding. These were so much better to me. I think if I would have had the opportunity to be familiar with the thong options we have today, I would have been all about it.
