That's pretty much the only way I would be comfortable in wearing a bikini speedo or thong in public, even if I don't talk to them. I just don't want to feel like the odd man out.

Yeah, I'm with you on that. As long as I'm not the only thonger..... I'd probably wear swim briefs as the odd man out, but not a thong.

My first time wearing a thong at the beach was quite some time ago. I remember being nervous back then. Now days the only swim wear I own are thongs. The beginning of each season I know I will be the only man wearing a thong at my local beaches. Funny thing is, it was wearing a thong that attracted people to me. Now they are friends and we all spend the days together at the beach a few times a week. These days the only time I get anxious is when visiting a beach I haven’t been to before. I’ll check out the vibe before stripping down to my thong. At resorts and hotels I have less hesitation. Nonetheless, I know I will be the only man in a thong the vast majority of the time no matter where I am.

I actually went to Haulover Beach (at the clothing optional area) yesterday and it was the only place so far where I felt comfortable wearing a thong. I was the only one with a thong. Of course, in that place I was actually overdressed. No, I didn't get nude. I wanted to get a speedo or thong tan.
There was an older man with a skimpy neon pink men's bikini with what I assume was his wife there. I wouldn't mind wearing something like that, but a different color like yellow or green.

I agree with this. So long as you aren’t at a hotel/resort in your hometown. If you are visiting somewhere else, you’ll likely never see any of those people again. I know for me, this is definitely what helped me to start wearing thongs and g-strings in public settings.

I agree with this. So long as you aren’t at a hotel/resort in your hometown. If you are visiting somewhere else, you’ll likely never see any of those people again. I know for me, this is definitely what helped me to start wearing thongs and g-strings in public settings.
I guess that also applies to beaches that aren't in your hometown too.
