Re: Beaches in Southeast US
Jason, I can understand the concerns we all have about being made fun of by others, or even crossing a line with the law without meaning to. I'm a very tough-minded and strong-willed person, in the sense of living my life on MY terms (guided by a moral compass). I try to be kind, helpful and considerate, but (within reason), I do as I please, and my embrace of microwear for both underwear and swimwear is one of the "non-negotiatables." I Googled some info on Texas beaches and found the following article by reporter Ella Gonzales in the 7/23/24 "Fort Worth Star-Telegram:" (these are quotes): "Nude beaches are legal in Texas...Strutting with your fanny out is perfectly legal at any public Texas beach...It only makes sense that a thong bikini is considered decent, too." She notes that thongs are legal under Texas Penal Code 21.08. Your mission: (ACCEPT it!!!
) is to enjoy a day at the beach in Galveston and report back!!! Take the Speedo! Go with or without your friends! You should be able to make some new microwear friends there even if you are alone. So, if the ladies (and maybe some guys as well!) are chuggin' along with the glutes gettin' a workout, what possible trouble will you cause in a Speedo? A new day will dawn!

I might venture one day, but it isn't exactly a quick walk across the street. It's still about one hour drive through Houston.Microbikiniman wrote: Mon Aug 05, 2024 12:11 pm Jason, I can understand the concerns we all have about being made fun of by others, or even crossing a line with the law without meaning to. New here. Thanks @Microbikiniman for the recommendation on Ocracoke. I visited the North end of the island and went nude for my first time today. I did chicken out and put on a speedo, instead of the thong I brought, when I saw a couple approaching. It’s late in the year but the weather was beautiful. I plan to go one more time tomorrow. We’ll see how the weather is. Thank again, for sharing your experience!

I have worn both a speedo and a swimthong in Galveston on the beach. Well, I don’t ever see anyone else in anything but board shorts. It is perfectly legal and other than some Surprised, facial expressions and a whistle or two I’ve never had any problems.

Re: Beaches in Southeast US
Hey everyone! I just got back from my trip to Ocracoke. As previously mentioned, I took a pair of briefs and a pair of cheap Amazon thong underwear to the North end of Ocracoke. There is a half mile long stretch beyond the off-road vehicle boundary. The first 1/4 mile of that is very visible to the fishing crowd, which was parked and set-up around the ORV entrance. The beach curves, at which point it is no longer visible unless one walks past the ORV boundary. On my first trip I spent about 30 mins walking along the edge of the water in the nude, but my eyes were peeled for any movement along the beach. When I saw a man approaching, I grabbed my briefs rather than the thong that I had hoped to try out. As a couple approached, I chickened out and walked back to the car in the briefs. Disappointed, I vowed to return the next day.
This time I left myself less option to chicken out. I walked almost out of view of the fishing crowd, before stripping down and putting on my thong. It’s not the best quality and turned out to be slightly more see thru than it had been indoors. Oh well. I walked along the waters edge, around the point, hoping I may see some like minded people bathing in the sun. There was one gentleman in board shorts, who scurried off when he saw me. I walked the area for about a half-hour before returning to the car.
I decided I’d try a slightly less secluded spot. I drove South along the beach past the public access point. I drove another mile and parked. I didn’t see anyone in either direction for at least a mile. I hoped out, wearing just a hat, glasses and my thong and began walking. The area is open to 4x4 traffic, and I thought I may be stopped by a Park Ranger at some point.
My first interaction was a couple, who looked up a little startled as we passed. I waved and they waved back, but avoided eye contact. Some of that may have been my own insecurity showing through. About 100 ft later I passed two young women as they walked past. They both smiled and waved back. Neither seemed to care about my attire.
A few vehicles and a Park Ranger also passed. The Ranger didn’t stop. I’d say that you’d have no problem on Ocracoke in briefs.
Later the next day I visited another public access point. I was asked down the beach about 200 FT from the last couple sitting on the beach and removed my shorts, revealing my thong. The couple turned their chairs slightly away, but said nothing.
I left the island and drove North toward Nags Head. I parked at NPS access 1, between Nags Head and Coquina Beach. I walked into the beach, which was vacant but I as visible from the houses along the water. I removed my shorts and walked about a mile in just the thong. There were some fishermen a few hundred feet further, so I stopped and turned toward the water. I decided to go for a quick dip and walk back. This is when I realized just how see thru the cheap thong would be when wet. As I exited the water, I noticed a man sitting in the dunes, trying not to make eye contact. I walked the mile back. My only other interaction was a woman looking for sea shells, who avoided eye contact but also said nothing.
I’ve since ordered some mesh shorts as a cover-up and a Stuffit swim thong from Skinz. I plan to try Pea Island, when the weather is nice.
Has anyone tried wearing a thong at Fort Fisher, NC?
Thanks for the encouragement!
Jay

Thanks for sharing your experience! Sounds like you had limited interaction while wearing just a thong but at least you didn’t have any negative reactions! Bravo for venturing out of your comfort zone to try something new!

Re: Beaches in Southeast US
Jay, thanks for the update! My three experiences with Ocracoke so far have been in July, with more people present, with plenty of microwear (and, "Up North," none!
). I have the feeling that, like General MacArthur, you "shall return!"
Re: Beaches in Southeast US
My thoughts and experiences up and down the east coast.
1. Anywhere in south Florida is a go except State Parks
2. Hilton Head … complicated area, lots of cheekie bikinis on women, especially young women. Some thongs on women. I’ve never been comfortable walking up and down the beach there. Always discreet but no issues. Also never been passed by the police. We’re in good ol boy country
3. Folly Beach/Isle of Palms … a go, but again discreet. We’re deep in good ol boy country. Always a Bubba with a salt life sticker and the wife and kids in tow who is uncomfortable with the idea of a man in a thong
4. Tybee Island … full go. You’ll be the only guy but it’s a go. May get a stray comment from a Bubba but much more liberal than Hilton Head.
5. Delaware … Rehoboth/Bethany Beach/Dewey beach. I can’t speak to the legality as I’ve never asked but have never had a problem. I’ve also never seen a cop on the beach. If you’re concerned, go to Dog Beach just south of Rehoboth but before Dewey/Bethany
6. Buckroe Beach, VA … full go.
7. Sandy Pointe State Park, MD … smallest/skimpiest you have from the car to the beach
8. Cape Cod … full go, no issues
9. Long Island … full go no issues. Unofficial nude areas on Gilgo Beach
10. Long Beach Island (LBI) … full go.
11. Ocean City, MD … probably a no no but I’ve done it. This area is so commercialized and geared toward mom/dad/kids it’s ridiculous. The only reason I was there was for work.
