Great job and congratulations on wearing your Euro brief Thongwearer! You are right to be proud! Maybe your friend will see the light now and take the plunge into a swim brief. A few years ago when I swam at a University rec center pool a friend of mine swam there also. He also was surprised to see me in a speedo one day. He wanted to become a better swimmer and I told him he needed a real swimsuit and not the baggies he was wearing. Much to my surprise he showed up the next time in a speedo identical to mine. I was happy for him. Hopefully your friend will do likewise.Thongwearer wrote: Wed Aug 23, 2023 9:47 am We swam this morning. We met at 7 and I got there a little early. So I struggled on whether I go ahead and get undressed to my swim brief or just wait for him and then do it at the same time as him.
I opted to wait for him thinking as we undressed to our swimsuit (or maybe just me since I had it on under my shorts) we could at least discuss it and the benefits.
He got there and put on a pair of just basically board shorts. I was kind of nervous but just said what the hell inside my head and dropped my shorts and took off my shirt. There was no hiding the green euro. He definitely looked surprised. I have certain friends who know I wear thongs/bikinis/briefs and obviously swim briefs but he was not one of them.
He did say he didn’t know I wore them and I just told him I hated the drag I get from board shorts, how long they take to dry and that Speedos were superior for swimming laps. I did say he should give them a try but at that point we got to the pool. I felt proud for not chickening out.

Swimmer78, enquiring minds want to know!
Did your friend comment on how much better his swimming went with the Speedo compared to the "bored"
shorts?
Re: Swimming laps
Microbikiniman, yes as I recall he was quite impressed with how much the speedo improved his swimming! He wore them every time to workout in after that. There were some casual pools just outside from the indoor lap pool and after a few swim workouts we would occasionally take a dip outside. I remember he was hesitant to go outside in his brief, but I encouraged him. I remember once an attractive young lifeguard (female) chatted with us while we were in the outdoor pool in our speedos. I think that made him feel much better!Microbikiniman wrote: Wed Aug 23, 2023 11:10 pm Swimmer78, enquiring minds want to know!Did your friend comment on how much better his swimming went with the Speedo compared to the "bored"

I feel more confident after my experience. I still have a long way to go though.
Re: Swimming laps
No problem with that Thongwearer. It's a process when it comes to building confidence in wearing a swim brief. I'm much more confident than I used to be but I still get a mental hang-up every once and a while. A good thing to do is practice positive self talk in your mind prior to an outing where you will wear your brief/bikini. Before going to the pool/beach or wherever, put on your suit, look at yourself in the mirror and remind yourself that you are expressing your own individual choice and there is nothing wrong in that. Most of this is overcoming the battle with yourself.Thongwearer wrote: Thu Aug 24, 2023 11:26 am I feel more confident after my experience. I still have a long way to go though.

Re: Swimming laps
Yeah i totally agree. I was back at the gym this morning and had a speedo solar on - I think i am totally comfortable with it there as people kind of give a pass for swim briefs there. One area I really struggle with would be out in public where I would know people that dont necessarily know about my choice of skimpy underwear or swimwear.
I did go thong today for underwear and decided not to hide in the locker room but just change as normal.
