I usually wear whatever underwear that I was wearing before I went to work out. So, for me, 99% of the time it's a thong under my workout shorts. I have a personal trainer. I tend to wear compression shorts when I workout with him because there is a lot of lifting/stretching and I like the additional support.

Definitely thongs. Feels the most comfortable for me, especially on leg and glute day.

On my gym days I am wearing a thong underneath my leggings or shorts, depending on the weather. Not only is it much more comfortable, it is also less obvious what I am wearing.

If I wear underwear when I'm working out it's always a thong! There's way less material and way more freedom of movement. I always wear leggings, too, so thongs don't bunch up or get in the way. But I don't always wear underwear at the gym--usually I'm commando under my leggings.
