Thong on beach - summer 2026

The local Winter Solstice swim is happening this weekend Sunday 21 05:30 at the ocean baths I frequent each morning.
I will hang around after my usual swim to take part.

I intend to wear a thong, but from what I know, some do this nude. If that's the case, I won't be in a thong

I’ll be doing the swim too, in Williamstown, Melbourne, but probably in just a bikini, no thongs!

I did our dip nude, with about 50 others

I didn't know how they would approach it. There is a wooden deck that runs across the pool dividing it into the 20 x 50m lap swimming area, and the 80 x 50m recreational area. The idea was to go to the end of the deck, drop everything, and then line up across the deck and jump in together.
The crowd was a pretty even mix of male/female. Just about everyone stripped to just a towel before dropping it near the end of the deck and getting into position from there. I wore just a thong up to that spot (no towel) and dropped it on the ground before getting in position.
When we got out after about 5 minutes, I just picked up my thong and walked back to my gear at the other end of the pool. Quite a few others did too. Despite the cold, the feeling of being totally casual and relaxed about being naked in front of complete strangers spread very quickly throughout the crowd.

It was absolutely exhilarating, and I already can't wait for next year. I'm actually thinking I will suggest to the organiser to do a Summer Solstice nude swim

Wow! Absolutely brilliant, I’d certainly have joined in if we had one here. I did do the worlds naked bike ride around Melbourne CBD , which was held in the summer, such a great feeling to be naked and have others do so too. Normalise the nude!

Thongmad, that sounds like an amazing experience! I would love to experience casual relaxed nudity like that. Here in the states everyone has gotten so uptight about nudity and it's treated as sexual or taboo. Even in gym changing rooms men are uncomfortable to be naked in open showers and change areas in front of each other. Our ymca recently put up dividers and curtains in what was an open shower. Now it feels claustrophobic, even repressive. It's interesting to me that this seems to be a generational thing with younger men being fearful of being seen naked.

Since the start of the 2026 swimming season on the northern coast of Spain, I have worn a thong swimsuit at five beaches—all of them wild or uncrowded.

At crowded beaches or those frequented by families, I always wear standard swim briefs.

I know Basque country and my first beach thong at all was there close to Bilbao
