The main things to look for that aren't present in all women's underwear is
1) lots of stretch up front - cotton, nylon and modal work well. Lace not so much. Lace fronts can also hurt.
2) elastic leg holes - these will hold you in and prevent the boys from falling out. Don't get laser cut or no-show panties, they will not work for men.
3) wide gusset - even women complain about the gussets being too small for their labia. Our boys and prostate stand no change against small panties.
My favorite panties to wear as a man:
Katie and Laura Pixie thongs - you may need to size up one size for best results. Otherwise, these feel amazing, have wonderful stretch and look lovely.
Victoria Secret seamless line - these are all awesome. They may as well be unisex underwear because they are super stretchy and supportive. Available in lots of styles and colors from very neutral and reserved to very feminine.
Aerie Superchill modal - all styles are awesome. I especially like the thongs and boybriefs. The material is super soft, breathable and very stretchy. Awesome support.

Great list, thanks. I've got a bunch of womens stuff and the stretchier ones DO hold better.
Spot on with the VS seamless thongs, they fit great.
+1 on staying away from laser cut - I got a laser cut pair once and it didn't hold anything in (no elastic leg holes).

I just picked up these SOULVOR Magneticfit thongs from Amazon. Reviewers say they’re dupes of the Skims Everybody thongs. I’ve never tried Skims, so I can’t confirm.
First impressions are positive! They’re very soft, stretchy, and have plenty of material to cover the goods. I ordered my normal size, but I probably could’ve sized down since there’s a lot of stretch. I like that the side and rear bands are wide as well... great for an everyday thong where you’re less likely to get a whale tail.

Do you guys actually buy women's thongs in person? All the brands mentioned here are well known, and there's a good chance you might run into someone you know while you're shopping. Also, what do you do if a sales associate comes to you and asks if you need help? Do you say you're shopping for yourself?

I've only purchased women's thongs in person. I'm very skeptical of the fit, so I absolutely have to see them in person. I've gotten three VS thongs and one Soma over the past 18 months or so. I've been in there about ten times or so because I wasn't always satisfied with what I found.
I've never seen anyone that I know there. However, I have tried to mitigate that a few times by visiting local stores when they open or swinging by a further away store, if I happened to be near one.
But after the fourth visit or so, I stopped caring. Every sales associate asked or insinuated in some way that I was buying for a partner. I actually wouldn't be surprised if they are trained specifically to speak to male-presenting customers in ways that don't insinuate the purchase is for themselves. In fact, the last three or so times, I've been compelled enough to tell them that I'm shopping for myself because I was tired of the assumptions being made. Plus, I found it more difficult to beat around the bush.
It is possible to ask questions without suggesting that the purchase is for you. Don't get me wrong. But I think it's fine if sales associates know that I'm buying for myself so that 1) they can help me better, and 2) it can be more normalized for more thongs designed for male anatomy to have features/styles that are more commonly found in women's lines.

I do, yes. I just keep a shopping cart / wishlist on my phone for the stuff I want to look at. Then if they ask if I need help, I say "yes, this is what we had picked out..." And then let them help you. They will assume you're shopping for a partner. Having the list ready helps avoid any awkwardness that you may be worried about.

I buy womens thongs in person, too. I usually get mine from department stores, so I get a bunch of other stuff at the same time so the thongs/gstrings are mixed in with all the other stuff

.... My 1st few times, I went early and used self checkout. Now, I guess I don't care as much.
I have a bunch of VS, but I got it all online - if it doesn't fit right, I just send it back. Sometimes, I go into a VS store and look around, but I haven't worked up the courage to buy anything yet

. I guess I could tell myself the sales clerk assumes I shopping for my wife..... Having an actual wishlist on the phone is a great idea.

That’s a good idea. It helps to do homework. I typically have a mental list. But they I get distracted when I see something unexpected catches my eye haha

It’s so strange to me that they can be returned. Doesn’t that also mean I rein the risk of purchasing returned items that have also been worn already?

My favorite woman’s thong is the hanky panky original rise. I buy them at Macys. I know a sales clerk there she always lets me know when the bliss pink ones come in.
