Will thongs ever be mainstream ?

A lot of great points, what makes underwear mainstream? Is it the ease of access in brick and mortar stores? I remember growing up in the 80s/90s and you could see the Jockey Elance bikini on display at JCPenney - today you are lucky if a boxer brief is displayed.

Or it it when they are more acceptable and less shocking when you see someone wearing something skimpy. Thong wearing guys are all over Instagram, so they are certainly popular. There are dozens (maybe hundreds) of underwear companies, that specialize in men's undies - particularly the thong - so I think it would be difficult to have so many brands under one roof. I do feel like the Brands you see in your local retail shop, would carry a skimpy option - so those that are curious or just running out to get underwear could pick one up.

To be honest, how many here would buy a Hanes thong - it would not compare to the N2N or JM or Joe Snyder that we like today.

I was thinking them being in more stores would help with the stigma. But I totally agree in my mind mainstream would mean more acceptance for a guy in a thong without it being a joke.

I like being different but would welcome more widespread acceptance.

I used to get nice men's thongs at H&M, now they only sell granny pants underwear for men.

Target site shows some Jockey men's thongs, but only shipped from Jockey as a third-party seller. You have to search for Thongs, it is not a drop-down
choice in the site.

Macy's site is similar, men's thongs are hidden unless you search for them, then they only have a few items.

The thongs I wear at the Beach would never be sold in a store anyway. They make me invisible, no one notices me as I roam around.

I wouldn’t mind seeing them accepted and more available in stores. But like others here I get a thrill out of wearing something different too.

You know I'd love for it to be, but it's going to take some time if so. I think we're slowly edging towards masculinity being something that doesn't really have anything to do with clothing, but we're a still a ways off.

I also think the buy in for the most part is kind of high. Aside from the really cheap stuff you can find on Shein, most thongs are $18-$40 for one pair. I think something like Shein is good for getting people to try them at a low price, but I'm not sure how much retention is there as some of them can be pretty uncomfortable. It would be nice to see prices somewhere in the middle, accessible on a daily basis, for better quality.

As far as the beach, I think it depends on where you go. California and Florida has had thongs for decades. In the late 80s Clearwater Beach became the haven for thongs on men and women. I was blown away by the amount of people out there. Then, the local govt. decided to ban them and it made national news. I don't go to that beach anymore and last I heard it's still banned. But there are plenty of other beaches in FL that are accepting of thongs along with California. I lived in San Diego for 2 1/2 years and saw them all the time though I didn't have the courage at the time to wear one. My next visit out there, I won't even think about it. Just do it.

I do have high hopes that it does become mainstream.
I totally have a (weirdo type of want) for prints on different colors and all around silhouette, especially when it comes to having more print of all brands.
The day I see a pack of men's thong underwear with almost any print of all anime popular by the year, {preferably a three pack of Sasuke Uchiha s scenes and so on
I will splurge buy just to have months worth a pair a day.

I would like it at least a little more , so that at least I could buy some in a mainstream store. I happen to a while back to stop into adult store and bought some thongs and a jockstrap. I happen to talk with the checkout lady and told her I was grateful that they carried men's thongs and was certainly envious of women having more shopping options available to them. She was very cool about talking about men's thongs . I mentioned I had tried them once and made the switch to wearing them for everyday underwear and realized it probably wasn't the norm. She mentioned it wasn't the norm, but thought everyone should have fun underwear and deserves to wear sexy stuff. I thought that was very cool. It so much made shopping for things alot more enjoyable!
