I believe we have the opportunity to be a part of a new healthy masculinity, and clothing (and of course underwear preferences) are a part of that. I think this has run in cycles for a while now. I think the US is becoming a bit more body positive overall, though I think we still have a ways to go. I've also reached a place where I am comfortable letting go of those friendships that are just not supportive, toxic, or highly critical.
It feels a little uncomfortable wearing things like workout leggings in public for the first time (and sometimes second time, and third time...) However, it's an opportunity to embrace who you are, what you like, and what is comfortable.
Rock what you got, and good people will appreciate you for who you really are. My wife loves that about me, and I think our friends appreciate me for being who I am and wearing what I feel comfortable in and embracing it.
