For the past several years (I’m honestly not sure when I started), I have been visiting beaches in the Santa Monica (California) area, looking for more secluded spots to enjoy the sand, surf, and sun while sporting bikini and thong swimwear. I started modestly wearing swim briefs and my swimwear gradually grew smaller and smaller over time. My current favorite beach attire is a black g-string from Skinzwear (https://skinzwear.com/product_detail.php?prodID=9714).
I am NOT running around in g-string on a crowded weekend with tourists, large groups of people, and kids everywhere. I found a stretch of beach that is almost always sparsely populated in the morning and nobody cares if I run the length of beach in my g-string. I started with swim briefs and moved on to cheeky string bikinis. No negative comments or looks, so I tried tangas and thongs. Still no negative comments or looks. Thongs were next and now g-strings. I do not plan to go any smaller. I’m really not into the more extreme swimwear. I want my junk completely covered and I want to be within the laws of California at all times.
The beach is called Castle Rock Beach. It is north of Santa Monica and south of Malibu. It is a small beach, about a mile in length. There are two parking lots that don’t hold many cars. You can also park on the street (PCH). I tend to stay in the lower half, but the upper half is great too. In the lower half mile stretch, there are often only one or two dozen others, walking the beach, fishing, walking their dogs, or laying out in the sun. There are sometimes kids, but they really don’t even pause to notice me as they play in the waves and their parents do not care either. I have not received a single negative comment or even a look the entire summer. I have received a compliment or two, but most people really just don’t seem to notice or care.
I try to get to the beach before 10am, so that I get street parking, then I walk down to the beach and run along the shore. I run the length of the south part of the beach (there is a natural break between the north and south parts of the beach) three times, back and forth, for a total of about 3 miles. I don’t run fast. I enjoy being in the sun and surf in nothing but a g-string (and my sun hat). It feels amazing. After my run, I like to do some ab work, a few bodyweight exercises and/or yoga. I setup near the natural break on beach, where there are very few people and I am mostly alone. This past summer was the first where I was wearing a g-string almost exclusively and I was going an average of once per week.
This beach is about an hour drive from where I live. I would go more often if it was closer. I realize that I am very fortunate to live in Southern California where locals are very tolerant and used to women (and a few men) in minimal swimwear. I am still extremely reluctant to wear g-strings or thongs in more crowded areas. I think we all have different levels of comfort when it comes to small swimwear.
If anyone in Southern California wants more information on Castle Rock Beach or wants to meetup sometime, I would love to share this experience with you.
How did you spend your summer?

That's a great story. Good to hear you were able to work down to a gstring on the beach. I like the gstrings from Skinzwear. I have three different gstring styles from them.
Nice you were able to go about once a week. Great place to exercise and stay fit
I am in socal but don't get many chances to go. Trying to squeeze in another beach outing before the end of the year if the weather behaves.
Kudos to you.

Re: How I spent my summer
Well, in general waz a pleasant summer.3 days ago we went for the last time at the beach.it was rather unsceduale, so we were in our underwear..the beach was empty, the sky was sunny, but it wasnt hot enough to enter into the sea.we just stay in our thongs, enjoy the sun.
This summer my best friend carlos and his wife visited us and we had great great time together...
As usual we enjoyed the sun, the sea...
Also was the first summer i saw so many thongers ...i saw two men at the airport...one in athens and another one in at the airport in kefallonia..
And 2 guys at the beaches during 2 month period...one in july ( if i remember correct) and one in august.
From that frequency i suppose that they were a few more , but i didnt see them...
Also, the last days of september a old thonger greek friend with whom used to have communication in the past, he send me a message..i replied and nowdays we have communication again..
So, yes, in general speaking was a successfull summer.

Re: How I spent my summer
Now that summer is over I can look back at a great season spent in my thong gear. I had an average of four days a week on a beach wearing a thong. Much of the time I was with friends. They accept my choice and even encouraged it. I get asked to wear specific color/prints or to wear some of my skimpier thongs depending on the day and what my friends will be wearing. I can say I only had positive comments from other beach goers. The nice part of my time at my local beaches was seeing several other women wearing thong bikinis. There were more women wearing thong bikinis this year than ever before. My travels took me across the country (USA) several times. I wore my swim thongs every place I went. I met friendly people at pools and beaches. I had comments that ranges from liking my thong, to liking my confidence and asking for photos with me.

Did you actually surf in swim briefs/thongs?
Re: How I spent my summer
Great post , you’re right there are more thongs being worn by women and more acceptance of men wearing them . Swimming and surfing wearing a thong/g-string is great fun and easy drying!

Re: How I spent my summer
I was fortunate enough to spend my summer in Europe this year. Even though I didn't get a lot of beach time in Europe, I was able to go thonging in Venice and Nice.
