I also wore white briefs pretty much into college. I wore boxers in college and then went to thongs shortly after college with some bikinis mixed in.
When I was growing up, white briefs were “weird” to wear so I was picked on a lot.

Re: What kind of underwear did you wear as a kid?
For the most part as a kid I wore white Y-fronts like most boys. When I was around 8 or 9 years old I remember that a pair of my sister’s pink panties made it into my underwear drawer. For some reason I decided to wear them to school and I remember liking them. I also member wearing in PE class you could see the pink thru my white gym shorts. They ended up back in my sister’s drawers after the next wash but I would sneak in and take them back. I mom eventually found out and asked me why I kept taking the pink bikini and I just said I liked the way they felt. On our next trip to the city we went to Marks and Spencer’s when they use to still have stores in North America. My mom took me to the boys underwear section and let me pick out let me pick out some spider man print briefs that looked a bit like a bikini as well as some pastel print briefs. Both had a no fly smooth front. That got me started on wearing bikinis. During the summer between grade 7 and 8 I was at sears and had permission to buy some clothes for school. At this point I was starting to wear men’s small clothing and was looking in the underwear section and spotted some Prodgie string bikinis with the 1” branded bands. I had never seen anything like them and grabbed a pair in small to try along with some Jockey bikinis.
My sister made fun of me when she saw the string bikinis in the buggy and my mom was a little shocked and asked if I meant to grab them. When I wore them for the first time I loved them and ended up getting a few more over time. Later in grade 9 I was at our towns small men’s store and was looking at the tiny men’s underwear selection and noticed they had Jockey Elance string bikinis in a little box I picked one up and when I tried them noticed they where a little smaller then the Prodgie underwear. The next time I was in the shop I was looking for another pack and couldn’t find any I asked the lady that ran the store and she said they ran out. She then picked up a little more plastic tube and asked if I wanted to try these and handed them over. The picture on the package looked like bikinis and said ya I think so have tried these before and purchased a pack. When I got home I opened the package expecting 1 pair and found 2 pairs inside when I unfolded them I was shocked that they had a small string for the back. I had purchased thongs that where more of a g-string and didn’t know what to do. I packed them back in the package best I could so I could return them the next day. During PE the next day it started pouring rain and we all got drenched. I would normally just changed back into my school clothes but my underwear was also soaked so the only
Underwear I had that I could change into where the Jockey thongs. I took a pair out and pulled them on while in a washroom stall so no one would see me. It was the oddest feeling. It wasn’t so much the string up my
Butt but the feeling of having nothing covering my butt. I pulled on the rest of my clothing and went on to my next class. The rest of the day I thought my butt was hanging out of my pants and found myself checking if the string was sticking out. At the end of school I was suppose to meet my dad and bike home. It was a hour and a half ride so my dad had bike shorts to throw on. So I biked home wearing the thong under my bike shorts and it was the first time I didn’t have and shafting on my lower but from the underwear leg straps. I ended up keeping the thongs and getting one more pack that year. My parents eventually found out and I said I got them for biking. My mom called them my special underwear and would often ask if I was wearing them before bike rides. So I was 13 when I wore my first thong. But basically they were g-strings
. I didn’t wear my first thong until my grade 10 year when I purchased my first real thong from the brand Prodgie. That was the first time I got Arri used from wearing underwear. The fit was so nice but it wouldn’t be for another 6months before I could find more. This time my mom didn’t buy that I got them for cycling. She knew they where thongs as my sister that year, who is 5 years older then me also just started wearing thongs. My mom was some how more shocked about the larger thongs then the jockey version that was a g-string. Go figure. I think it’s because the thongs looked more like girls underwear. But in any case that was the style of underwear I started wearing mostly full time. And to this day I am still a avid thong and string bikini wearer.

Welcome to the forum, prodgie. What a great story. It's funny how some guys accidently discover thongs and g-strings due to a mix up at a store. They look at the picture on the package and assume it's a string bikini only to discover otherwise when they get home(lol). Have to say I'm surprised that the owner of the store offered a schoolboy a pack of g-strings as an alternative to string bikinis, but maybe she was just desperate for a sale. Just think it's unlikely that she didn't know what she was selling.

I agree that is a great story! My thong/bikini in-store mix-up happened when I was in my 20s, but carries through to this day as well!

I recall in my mid to late teens having some bonds string bikinis that were floor colours, pink, green, and yellow! They were great. however generally they were always briefs.
Re: What kind of underwear did you wear as a kid?
Mostly tightly whiteys as a kid. I remember getting a pair of speedos which I wore in our pool only when no friends were around. I once got a pair of my moms red satin string bikini in my laundry once and wore it in secret until my parents found it (I just played dumb about it). In high school I switched to loose fitting boxers, which in hindsight were the worst.
After high school I got a job as a airline baggage handler and would constantly get chaffing between my thighs, I switched to a string bikini I saw at walmart (it was in a plastic tube) and those were so comfortable to me, and alleviated a lot of the chaffing I experienced. In my early 20s I switched to boxer briefs and tighter fitting boxers. I started to get into running and would have the chaffing problem so I ordered a few different type of underwear including a thong... I totally fell in love with the thong and started wearing them more and more.

Hi all, I think I posted this already in the bikini talk but I'll just put it here as well.
Mom basically controlled all our clothing from the moment we were born up until junior year in high school about 16-17 years old. From potty trained age like 3 or 4 up to when I was 13, multicolored slips/bikini briefs. I had them in red, yellow, purple, black, royal blue, sky blue, and navy. Very narrow sides and front pouch (which tends to expose my crotch and just covers up just enough), full cotton, no Y front or front vertical seam. Kids started wearing boxer briefs in middle school as those were the more "adult" underwear, and when we would change for PE it's always in a slightly public locker room and even if I dropped my pants first and left my shirt on, sometimes a very clear soccer ball or spiderman picture can be seen in front as they stick out on a vibrantly colored bikini brief (which I think my mom got from the bargain night-markets rather than the department store as those were cheaper but still okay in terms of quality?). As a kid growing up in a mandarin/english speaking school with a lot of unnecessary machismo, just being seen in yfront tighty whiteies in middle school is already generally unacceptable, all the more for colorful bikini briefs which is basically social suicide. Even if it really is just underwear, people can be quite harsh. I was under 5 feet tall going into highschool and a very plump, bespectacled, and narrow shouldered kid, overweight for my age. Did I like wearing this type of underwear as a kid? I did actually, they were quite comfortable and definitely helped since I was an unfit sweaty kid. When my underwear was full front and full back with a thicker side fabric, disgusting as it sounds, it would always be sweat stained. A lot less with the bikini type underwear with a more euro-cut back and narrow sides and front. So as far as I'm concerned, I'm more hygienic wearing those.
When I started high school, my mom at least bought me more adult looking bikini briefs. Of course, I could no longer fit into those slips as I aged I gained even more weight. I still wasnt morbidly obese or obese, just chubbier and stouter looking, stocky all over. So my mom got me Hanes string bikinis at one of the larger sizes for Americans as my waistline could not fit in anything smaller anymore. The problem with this is that even with a hefty frame I had a flat butt and a really really small package. So the shape that it took for the man who modelled it on the box was vastly different from how it looked on me. It basically looked like a loincloth but I didnt care and it made for some comfortable everyday underwear. Pretty soon after I got those Hanes, Jockey Elance introduced a tanga bikini line I think made in Thailand. It's not a string bikini and it's not a thick waistband tanga bikini (like a jockstrap), it was like an ordinary bikini brief but the sides were like 0.5inches or lesser and in a more uniform black. I think my mom really went to town with this since I really liked it too. Until this day, I still buy this type of bikini brief online. Nowadays, I'm a full blown thonger and even if those Jockeys are there lying around, I dont really wear them. Thongs are better for me IMO.

Oh my, I used to cut my boxer briefs into “thongs”. They were so loose and far from the real thong I dreamed of owning. So many different cuts I attempted. Sneaking to the store and buying string bikinis had my heart racing, wearing them late at night. Wow, so much has changed!
