Caught Wearing Skimpy Underwear

Hello all,

I just found out about this forum, and I'm glad there are many of us who love skimpy underwear. I apologize if my english is bad because it is not my main language.

My name is Alex (27 y.o), im straight, and live in Asian country, where a man wearing skimpy underwear considered gay and taboo. Almost every man in here wear boxer brief/large briefs with boring color like grey or black. But I love wearing skimpy bikini briefs and thong for about 6 years. I love it because my country is very hot and wearing tiny underwear feels cooler then boxers. Beside that, i feel sexier wearing thong and feels aroused wearing thong or bikini briefs under my reguler clothes. My girlfriend knew this and she is fully support me. But no other people knew my little secret. So when i go to gym/swimming pool locker room, I always put my pants inside shower room, or cover by lower body with towel while wearing my pants, to make sure no one would saw me in my underwear.

This happened about last month when I go to massage parlor that i usually visit, with my regular therapist. She is a nice woman, a bit older than me. Usually I got borrowed pants from them, she said today the shorts are in laundry, so i can took off my clothes down to my underwear. Then I remember I wear electric blue joe snyder capri bikini, which look more like a thong then a bikini. I feel embarrassed because Its the first time, someone saw me wearing a thong beside my partner. When the therapist saw it, she looks shock, and said in my languange, "oh my god, im sorry, here the towel to cover" Then she giggle a little. Then she drape me with towel and the massage went normal.

Then after the massage, when i wanti to get dressed again, 2 customer passed by and saw me in my underwear. Bassically if you know the massage parlor in asia, its only covered by curtain, so my guess is, when my therapist left the room, she didnt close the curtain properly. So i saw that customer looking at me, and he pretend didnt see, then i heard he laughing with his friend spoke with his friend in my language "what the hell is that, he must be gay or a stripper" I felt embarrassed when I heard that.

I feel embarrassed but confused. On one side, i knew its very unusual for a man in my country to wear colorful skimpy underwear, so their reaction is normal, but on the other side, its just an underwear, why people judge me because of that. What do you think ? should I start wearing more conservative underwear if there are a chance other people might saw me, or should i didnt care about it ? Do you all have any experience about first time caught wearing skimpy undies ?

Im sorry about my english, and reading all the positivity on this forum make me want to share this story. Im glad i found this forum

Welcome to the forum Alex. First of all may I congratulate you on your written English. Everyone on this forum knows that the underwear we choose to wear does not define our sexual persuasion. Sadly, there are many in society who still wrongly jump to that conclusion when they see a man in a thong or other skimpy styles. You know you are straight, and having a girlfriend who supports your choice is a major plus.
It's unfortunate that you were subjected to derision at the massage parlour, but don't let that put you off. You know the benefits of wearing briefer underwear in a hot climate, so don't give them up. You might even unknowingly inspire other men to discard their bulky uncomfortable undies for something cooler. Let us know how you get on.

Glad I found out that there are many of us. I think its just unfortunate I live in such conservative country and society, where wearing thong made you gay. Funny thing is, I have some gay friend, and I ask them if they are wore skimpy underwear, but they said no, they wore boxer briefs because thong is too gay for them. So I agree that what underwear you wear didnt determine your sexual preferences.

Yeah right now Im still mixing between bikini briefs and thong, Usually I wore tiny bikini briefs when there are a chance I showed in my underwear. Like when I go to massage parlor, but even that, they still judge me like that. Actually its not the first time its happened when someone make fun of your preferences. One day about 1 or 2 years ago, when I walk on the street at famous local tourism place, its a very hot and humid day, I'm wearing my thin white short and red joe snyder thong, didn't realize its pretty translucent until when my wallet fell and I tried to bend over to pick it up. There are 2 woman and 1 man behind me, younger than me, i guess college student, they burst out a laugh and speak to each other which if I translate into English like this, "what the fuck man, what the hell he's wearing ? is he wear a slut underwear, are he gay ? Did you see it guys ? be careful i think he is a freak. Foreigners are weird bro". Its a tourism place, and many foreigners there, so I think they misinterpreted me as a foreigners. I feel so embarrassed and pretend not to hear a thing and continue walking, but I realize they follow me and one of them try to record me while giggle, so I stop walking and pretend to go to minimart, then they continue walking and looking at me with disgusted face.

Sorry If I share too much of my experience, I just want to give context how conservative people in my country and how they thought when saw someone wearing unusual underwear. Since then I became more careful not to wear brighter underwear under my light color pants, haha. Sometimes I envy you who live in europe/america, who can wear thong to beach or spa.

While it is true that men wearing skimpy underwear/swimwear appears to be more acceptable in Europe and America compared to your country, that is not always the case. As you read more about the forum members' experiences in various countries around the world, you will realise that there is discrimination and condemnation aimed at guys who dare to go against the flow when it comes to their intimate clothing. It is not uncommon for some of the guys to be the lone speedo wearer on a beach, nevermind a thong.

I'm from Ind*nesia, in southeast asian. Do you know my country ? haha. And that tourism place that i said earlier is B4li. Its very beautiful island with many foreigner. Maybe you are more familliar with it. Sorry im censored it, because our netizen is pretty wild, haha. Its very conservative and religious country, and being gay is very taboo in here, so you know my concern when they judge me gay by my undies. Actually B4linese people are more liberal and open minded, but the one that followed me I think also tourist from other city.

Based on my experience on the gym, or sauna, People in here almost 50% wearing classic brief with white/grey/black/navy color, 40% wearing boxer briefs with same color, and the others wear boxer. I almost never saw an adult men wearing more skimpy underwear. maybe just around 5 times. I remember one guy in gym locker room wearing yellow renoma tanga briefs, and he looks so pop out because everyone else is wearing all that greyish underwear. And that renoma tanga briefs is still felt too big for me, thats why im still brave enough to wear only my underwear in locker room, haha.

I know Indonesia is made up of many islands including the one where the fearsome Komodo dragons live. I get very angry and upset when I see videos on youtube of mostly young goats being maimed and tethered with no chance of escape while some cruel bastard films them being eaten alive by these reptilian monsters, all for some likes online. It is densely populated and the capital is Jakarta. Has a large muslim population too which probably explains the attitude towards skimpy men's underwear.

Yes man, ind*nesia is the country with the most populated muslim in the world. And many of these guys are hypocrate, they judge people, and do many crazy things for religions. Also in here there are many uneducated people thats explain their closed minded mindset. Its so diverse in here that makes some people are really smart, but there are a lot more with closed minded mindset. Sex before marriage in considered taboo, being gay in here is dangerous.

You mention about video, know I remember, couple years ago in here there are local viral video, where one couples persecuted get paraded on the street at by their neighbour because they live together before marriage. they accused them for “zinah” and considered sinful. And they strip both of them of clothes, leaving them in their underwear. Bunch of hypocrite talking about sinful yet doing something so disguisting. I remember the woman in the video wearing no bra and only wearing a thong (in here only a few woman who wear a thong, because its considered taboo even by woman). I remember they shout to her “look ! no bra and a thong, this girl must be a slut! why not just go naked” while many of the record and laughing. The woman is crying, and her boyfriend trying so hard to cover his girlfriend. Its a very unsettling video. Luckily all the bastard there was caught by the police. Even many people defend this couple, some people also comment in the video, like, “actually I never seen a good woman wearing a thong” “judge by her clothes, i think she deserve it” and many others

Thats how conservative my country are. If woman caught wearing thong is judged a slut, how about a man, that s why i little bit nervous to show my underwear in public, haha

Alex, welcome to the forum - feel free to share here and know the members will support your decision. I am in the southern USA, and wearing a thong is considered "girlie" or gay here as well. No one, except my wife, knows I wear thong underwear. I am not ashamed but also don't want to hear the laughs or jokes, so I keep it to myself. It is sad, I thought more Asian countries would be accepting of skimpier underwear. I follow someone on Instagram, he lives in Hong Kong, and good swimmer and he wears thongs to the local pool, beach and even on nature walks. I find it nice he can be so free to wear this almost anywhere - then sadden to hear you get made fun of. It is sad the culture degrades an article of clothing as a way to know sexuality. Thong underwear doesn't make you gay, just like boxers don't make you straight.

Hi David, nice to know you, I think majority of asia still not accepting for straight men wearing thong. Except for some more developed countries like hongkong or japan, but in southeast asia, it is still considered taboo, even most woman here didnt wear thong.
I agree that thong not for gay, even my gay friend said he didnt wear thong because it is too gay. But untill today I still wear it hoping someday I have the courage not to hide it anymore, haha
I thought european and south america country are more accepting of skimpier underwear. Cause I had watch some mexico movie, and many man there wore skimpy bikini briefs.

Hi Alex -- welcome to the forum as well. I have been to Indonesia on business travel a couple of times, and I have to confess that I didn't think about any impact that my underwear may have had! I spent time in Jakarta and Yogyakarta...never really had any experiences (I don't think) where my underwear might have been known there.

There are plenty of stories on here from many of us who have been "caught" or otherwise! I encourage you to look around and see those stories too, so you know that you're not the only one.

Incidentally, in China about a decade or more ago (in Beijing), I was astonished to see a guy just laying out on a small patch of grass near his apartment building (I guess) wearing a bright red thong.
