Best Basics
Long time thong and bikini wearer here. However, as I’ve gotten older I’ve preferred simplicity. I mainly wear Bendon thongs and Jockey Skants briefs (I’m in New Zealand).
I wanted to add to my wardrobe and bought some thongs and bikinis online, Doreanse and Gauvine, but to be honest didn’t love them. They felt too “sexy” and less practical.
I feel like so much of the thong and bikini selection out there is overly skimpy. I just want something simple, basic, comfortable. I like something fun, but I don’t want to wear sexier underwear than my wife on a daily basis. Haha
Any recommendations on good basics?

Check out the Canadian brand JM. They offer a traditional cut thong in their Skinz and Natura fabric. Both are good choices. Most do go for the Skinz version.

Welcome to the forum. You've come to the right place for information on all things underwear/swimwear.Down_Underwear wrote: Thu Jun 13, 2024 11:16 pm Long time thong and bikini wearer here. I agree with Nate, I have my skimpy and sexy styles but my daily go to is the JM thong. It is about as perfect as possible.tbdrawer wrote: Fri Jun 14, 2024 12:04 am Check out the Canadian brand JM. I used to buy a brand of thongs from Debenhams department stores called Red Herring.
They were like a normal bikini brief but with a thong back.
Perfect for everyday wear.
Unfortunately though, they don’t sell these any longer.
The nearest I can find are some of the Doreanse offerings.
Though they seem hard to find in plain stretch cotton.

Agreed - JM skinz thongs are great and have some really good colors.
I’ll need to go to Canada for the ones that have the stripes instead of all solid colors though

Kiniki and Daniel Alexander are worth checking out for half back bikinis. I also discovered a brand on ebay called Yutata which have some amazing half back string bikinis which are super soft to the touch and semi transparent.

Agree with the Kiniki and Daniel Alexander...troublingly as I was looking yesterday, though, Kiniki is only offering its Kelly stye in a black multi-pack. I'm not sure if they are doing away with that style or not. I hope not. Those are my go-tos, at least a few times per week! I'm due for some replacements soon.
Also -- Arroyman mini-bikinis have some cheeky elements to them as well.
