I wear speedos in public but really only at the gym pool. I need to figure out how (and when) to wear them in a more public setting like a beach.
For me I had to figure out a beach where I could wear mine without bringing too much attention to myself. That's why I ended up in Miami.
I may try my luck here in Texas this summer if I can hang out with a small group of people who don't have hangups about them. I could even invite this Ukrainian female co-worker to come with me. She had no issues when I showed her some of my recent speedo photos on my recent vacation. Speedos are far more common in her country so she's more used to see them.
A gym pool is a very natural place to wear briefs. No one really thinks much about it and its a good way to get your feet wet with speedos in public.
Jason_greets, you've already made the next step to the beach. Definitely wear your speedos to the gulf beach in TX. Sure you'll likely be the only guy wearing them, and you may get some looks or a rare comment from an immature individual. But my experience is to just not let it shake you and carry on. Assume a confident, relaxed posture on the beach (try not to look down a lot) even if you have to fake it a few times. I've worn Sporti briefs many times on FL panhandle beaches with my wife and kids. Most folks could care less. It gets easier with experience. Your Ukrainian friend may appreciate it if she goes with you.
I just realized that there is also a clothing optional park in Austin (the only clothing optional public park in Texas) where I could wear mine. It has a big lake too. It's called Hippie Hollow. That would be an ideal place for me to wear my suits there and wouldn't be too out of place.
I may invite that co-worker and maybe some of her other Ukrainian friends to the beach in Galveston.

I've heard of Hippie Hollow but you might be overdressed in a speedo there lol. That would be a good location to try a swim thong though. Not sure how far of a drive that is for you, but you certainly don't need a clothing optional beach to wear your bikinis.
It is very difficult to wear a thong for the first time publicly and the heart starts racing as you try and look confident . When I’ve been on holiday for a few days in a row by about day 4 I am much more relaxed . Funnily enough I prefer that lovely feeling of nervousness . After a break from public wearing it is just like starting again for the first time , I’m glad to say !

Better for me to be "overdressed" wearing speedos/thongs worry-free than in another place where I could get unwanted attention.
Dude, congratulations with your speedo experience and you look amazing wearing your speedo.
Trust me, those thoughts are in your head, speedos are more acceptable than you believe. I also live in TX and I have wear thongs at pools too and not issue.
