Either I am fortunate or lucky as I’ve not had issues with wearing more revealing swimwear anywhere in the USA when staying at a hotel. I travel rather extensively and am in hotels fairly frequently. These days I only pack thong swimwear (except for the states that have legal statutes, such as Utah, against thong wearing, then I bring a rio cut or cheeky) and have not had a problem at a hotel. As a matter of fact I am currently staying at a hotel in Southern California and have been to the pool a few times clad in a thong.

I hope you find your comfort zone with what feels best for you to wear.

jason_greets wrote: Sat Dec 16, 2023 8:04 pm Yeah, I feel a bit uneasy about wearing bikini speedos at hotels in the U.S. because so many of them aren't crazy about them. Next summer I just plan to go to one of those clothing-optional places that are available here in Texas. I won't get nude, but at least I wouldn't look too out of place, get told to cover up, or get unwanted attention, the latter is the last thing I would want. I will try wearing a thong too. I just want to be comfortable because I hate boardshorts. I tried them and did not like them.

I did try to sneak wearing one this summer when I was with some friends by going the first thing in the morning and, to my surprise, one of my roommates also likes wearing bikini swimsuits.
I would probably dare to wear them in other more open minded places like California if I visit.

We have visited the KN Hotel Costa Calma , Fuerteventura many times and they welcome G Strings in the outdoor pool and the inside Spa and pool ,we are sensible and would not wear transparent or extremely small ones, ( we keep these for the beach ). It’s an adults only hotel .

That’s just awful! Especially as the girls were in thongs too. I’d have definitely complained and got them to change into something else.
They can’t have it both ways! While it’s totally embarrassing, I too would have taken it further and complained to the hotel management.
This year I’ve been pushing my limits by wearing thongs on quite public beaches here in Melbourne, my rational is that if girls can wear thongs and even g-strings then I can wear a thong too. (that’s why I’d be incensed if this happens to me)

That's great to know. I go to that area every other year or so and usually stay at the Jandia Princess hotel which also has an adult only hotel.

We stayed in the Fuerteventura princess years ago before starting to wear thongs , I remember in had a nude area with a small pool, as far as I remember that area closed and became a VIP area ?
The reason reason we like the KN Hotel in Costa Calma apart from their policy on G Strings and adult only is its position on the island makes it easier to access north and south beaches .

No it's still a nudist area. Good to know there are a few places like that.

This is link to my hotel pool selfie collection! Enjoy
Ralange thank you for sharing the swim wear collection. Bravo to your bravery for wearing such daring suits at a hotel, from the pictures it looked like you had the pool to yourself - by chance have you encountered other guests at the pool and received negative or positive comments from fellow swimmers? And I found it funny that on the hotel card it said "unlock your smile" and you were in probably your favorite thong.
I know this post is just over 3 years old wow! The first hotel thong at pool of 2024 happened today 1/10/24.
I went to the pool and 3 guys just walked out of the pool area leaving it empty. I wear running shorts as a cover up while in the hallway. I opened a can of beer and while I was enjoying the hot tub a couple walked in.
Wearing my Skinzwear black with pink lighting bolts thong and being in the water they would have no idea.

I know everyone says just act normal like it's nothing.
The couple sat at one of tables the lady took off cover up to show one peice with boy short bottoms, the man had on (you guessed it) DORK SHORTS! So when to tub shut off I just got up walked over got in the pool and swam a few laps underwater. The first time I came up the guy asked how's the water. I said it's cooler than the hot tub and feels great. I got out dried off put my shorts on and said to them have a good evening they said you too.
Just act as if it's normal to wear what you want.

I stay at this hotel alot and works all k ow me by name, hell I even get a Christmas card from them. Yes they have 2 cameras in the pool room.

From my experience wearing thong swimwear in any hotel pool in Europe is not a problem, I think since more women are now wearing them it’s even less of a problem, I would never email or call a hotel to check first, I treat thong swimwear as normal everyday swimwear. I would suggest G-Strings are different and I would be more selective on which pools I would wear one in , even then definitely not a provocative one. Never in my 5 years of thong wearing have I been asked to cover up!

So I was very sorry to read this story , James . I was wondering seeing what I would have done in your situation . I don’t think I would have been up to arguing the point , it’s probably a no win situation . I think I would have said , “oh I thought this was suitable you want me to change?” I’m not saying that’s right but I’m just being honest with myself . I have wondered how I would deal with other situations . I’ve just come out of my hotel Sauna west I wore a modus vivendi Tanga side with 1.25 cm straps . Used pool , Sauna , no issues . Not a thong by the way . But probably the most likely negativity might come from a loudmouth , like “ your swimmers are a bit small mate” it’s difficult to know how to deal with this type of comment ( not that I’ve ever had it !) not wanting to end up in a confrontation I think I’d deflect it a little bit with . “ I live in France a lot of the time and these are really common there” something like that anyway . How would others deal with James’ situation , being told by staff to t was unsuitable and also the jibe sort of comment I was talking about ?

So I go to my uk hotel pool every day in small bikini type swimwear verging on tanga but never in a thong . It’s just too close to home . But the pool layout is such that if I wore a thong and towelled up and then went straight to the sauna in the towel then I could go to the shower which essentially is in the mens’ area ….. the towel hook is about 2 metres away and that is visible from the pool ! So am I asking for trouble to go down this route or am I overthinking things as usual … ?
