Swimming laps
I had a friend ask to work out together for swimming laps. Should I warn him about wearing swim briefs and wear them or just do jammers ?

Wear the swim briefs! What is there to warn him about? Why mess up your workout sporting enough fabric to cover a pony? Your friend asked you, so he trusts you, and like you, is committed to the idea of healthful exercise. If he enjoys watching the tv coverage of Olympic swimming events, he is well aware of the Speedo-style briefs worn by the male athletes. The only thing we have to fear is...fear itself!
Re: Swimming laps
I second, wear your swim brief. You’re there to swim laps. You’re there to get a workout in. There is no need to tell someone that you’re wearing a competition suit. The majority of men at the gym I swim at wear Speedo/bikini/briefs for swimming laps. It is much more efficient for swimming.
Re: Swimming laps
Definitely wear your swim brief without hesitation. There is no reason to warn your friend because you're not doing anything wrong. Its perfectly natural to wear a brief to swim laps. Wearing anything more is unnecessary material that will only be a nuisance. I agree with Microbikiniman, fear is the only enemy we have when it comes to wearing small swimwear. Just this past weekend we spent a couple nights at the beach with my in-laws. I wore my turquoise Sporti Euro brief on the beach with them. Nothing was said about it and this was not even a lap swimming situation.

Re: Swimming laps
I agree.
Just wear your swim brief. No need to warn him about anything.
In fact, I would bring a second swim brief just in case he laments that he didn't bring his because he was not sure what you were going to wear. Or, you can offer to let him borrow it if he expresses interest in your swim brief.

Excellent idea about bringing along a second swim brief, especially if your friend (up to NOW!
) has been spending way too much money on "swim fashions" from the "Ted The Tentmaker" Collection! A new day may dawn for him! And, there's strength in numbers!

Thanks everyone - I’ve decided to don the swim brief. It’ll be the green sporti euro - I may also put an extra one in my bag too!

Let us know how things go, as well as the type of suit your friend brought along!

Re: Swimming laps
We swam this morning. We met at 7 and I got there a little early. So I struggled on whether I go ahead and get undressed to my swim brief or just wait for him and then do it at the same time as him.
I opted to wait for him thinking as we undressed to our swimsuit (or maybe just me since I had it on under my shorts) we could at least discuss it and the benefits.
He got there and put on a pair of just basically board shorts. I was kind of nervous but just said what the hell inside my head and dropped my shorts and took off my shirt. There was no hiding the green euro. He definitely looked surprised. I have certain friends who know I wear thongs/bikinis/briefs and obviously swim briefs but he was not one of them.
He did say he didn’t know I wore them and I just told him I hated the drag I get from board shorts, how long they take to dry and that Speedos were superior for swimming laps. I did say he should give them a try but at that point we got to the pool. I felt proud for not chickening out.

Good for you! That’s the way to do it. Be confident and extoll the benefits of a real lap suit. If you keep wearing your swim brief he may see the benefit and decide to give it a tray as well.
