Another religion

Post by mrrigid »

My wife and I have been invited to an old married college girlfriend/friend of our's house for a party this weekend, to meet up with some other couples we haven't seen in years.
It's a pool party and I was anticipating wearing a 3 or 5" side square leg - to be responsible - but of course wanted to show off to my old friends (male and female) and be a little competitive with her husband (if I'm being honest).
but...
My old girlfriend just saw a photo of me in a 3" bikini and told me not to wear that - she's apparently also invited 'observant' religious friends.
Of course, I want to respect that.
So I'm thinking of my 9" square leg briefs, plus a hawaiian shirt. And bring a bikini in case things take a turn for the better! I've been dieting for two weeks!
Of course, I'll do the right thing, but if anyone can understand my frustration, it's my friends here!

Wow! That’s not cool, but I guess it’s her party, her rules, not sure why it’s a pool party if you can’t wear speedos. What religion are they that would object to swimwear?
I get it if you were going to wear a thong, but 3” speedos are on the large size for me.
I get your frustration.

It's a shame that the hostess of the pool party is restricting your choice of swimwear, but I guess you have to conform to keep the peace. I wonder if her religious friends are genuinely the reason for her stance, or if she's using them as a convenient excuse to stop the men from wearing speedos, although that should also apply to the women who might be expecting to wear tiny bikinis. I would suggest you take a bikini with you and when you get there see what the women are wearing. If they are wearing skimpy bikinis you would have a case for wearing yours, but you probably won't want to make a big deal about it. If the religious friends are followers of Islam, then I'd expect the women to be completely covered from head to toe and only showing their faces. I've seen a few at the beaches in Sicily and they don't show any naked skin, although their male companions are just wearing swim shorts. Let us know how things pan out.

The other guests are Jewish (as is she) but I don't know more about their specific wishes.

You may be right, Tanga, about it being a reaction to the suit herself!

I'll bring a variety of swimwear so I have options. Or there may be better chances at a later date.

And there'll be alcohol, so anything's possible!

Thanks for the support!

Party was fine - a good crowd - a bunch of 50 somethings and another bunch of 20 somethings.
A number of women in basic swim tanks - a couple bikinis but relatively modest ones.
I wore my big square leg suit with no one noticing.
Of course all the young men wore big baggie shorts - they may as well have had tool belts to go with them!
I do have an assurance from my host I can wear something smaller next time!
