Missing Underwear
Missing Underwear
I never have a problem with while washing in a communal washing machine for the apartment building I'm in, except for the odd inconsiderate people taking up the machine or take your clothes out.
A short while ago I noticed my hom freddy thong in royal blue was missing. I thought maybe it was misplaced and was quite caught up with other matters and thought it might eventually turn up. Quite recently however, my black pair also vanished without a trace. Now the thing is I check very meticulously when putting things in the wash, then when transferring to the dryer then back out before return to my apartment.
Apart from that when I bring back, the fresh laundry is just left in the ikea bags I use to hold them. So when fresh clothes run down the bag is usually empty and nothing gets folded or put away. So the only conclusion is that someone might have taken them, or at the very odd odd instance, that it got into someone else's wash. Which given how careful I am is very unlikely.
So the only conclusion I can come to is that it's quite likely been taken on purpose? I only ever seen the neighbor girl taking out my wash to put her own in one time. Pretty sure that might've happened previously but not sure. Anyone else in have something similar happen?

Re: Missing Underwear
I know it used to be quite commonplace for women to experience the theft of underwear from their garden washing lines, but not so common for men. It sounds like someone has definitely taken a fancy to your thongs. Have you noticed other non underwear items going missing too, or is it just the thongs? Perhaps you have a secret admirer who likes getting their hands on probably the most intimate garment that you wear? If that is the case, I think it unlikely that they would risk putting them in with their own clothes when using the communal washing machine. Have you considered asking the other residents if they have noticed items missing in their laundry? That might be sufficient for the culprit to realise you're on to them.sensu4 wrote: Sat May 20, 2023 11:02 am I never have a problem with while washing in a communal washing machine for the apartment building I'm in, except for the odd inconsiderate people taking up the machine or take your clothes out.

When using my own washing machine at home, I put my underwear in a small, net laundry bag which keeps them together. Perhaps you could try that, although it wouldn't stop the thief from taking them. I think you will either have to hand wash your thongs in your apartment, or find a local laundrette to do all of your clothes, which might not be convenient, but at least your underwear should be safer. Let us know how you get on.

Re: Missing Underwear
It is possible someone likes your thongs. I have heard about thefts before and just always wonder - why don't they but their own? I'll be the first to admit I admire some other guy's underwear while doing laundry, but I can't imagine stealing it. I'm in an apartment situation here, too. I've never had a pair stolen (that I know of), but I have missed a pair in the washer only to find them hanging in the laundry room by the person who found them stuck in the washer. Guess the person didn't like string bikinis...hmmm.

Hmm, I've not seen others go missing but might try the laundry bag. I do have them for the more delicate items. I mean I sometimes find the odd ankle sock that isn't mine in my laundry but try to return it to the washing area. Not sure if someone has gotten it like that or took it on purpose.TANGA TANGA wrote: Sat May 20, 2023 4:18 pm I know it used to be quite commonplace for women to experience the theft of underwear from their garden washing lines, but not so common for men. Lol, well exactly I find the odd ankle sock in my wash that belongs to someone else and I just return it back to the laundry room. Most like if mine were misplaced like that the person decided to keep them/throw them out? I don't know. It's odd.Madaboutuw wrote: Sun May 21, 2023 2:34 am It is possible someone likes your thongs. Re: Missing Underwear
The couple I used to live with (Michael & Maria)... three of my bikini briefs ended up in their laundry bin... 3 that I am aware of. Once when I was doing laundry, they still had left their laundry in the dryer, so I took it out and found one of my purple bikinis briefs that I was missing. I let Michael keep it, it was old and faded and I had already replaced it.
Of course, now that I think about it, the Maria probably took them because she wanted Michael to have them. She was a thief.

Re: Missing Underwear
I've had underwear both stolen and "borrowed." (In the case of the latter, I politely gifted them.) Given that I wear string bikinis the vast majority of the time, these are the style that were both stolen...and borrowed...
Re: Missing Underwear
Oh wow, it's great that you were able to notice them again. I'd like to see if mine turn up like that. I hardly touch anyone elses laundry unless if someone leaves it in the machine over half a day and I really need to do mine.JustSomeDude71 wrote: Mon May 22, 2023 9:10 am The couple I used to live with (Michael & Maria)... three of my bikini briefs ended up in their laundry bin... 3 that I am aware of. Re: Missing Underwear
The weirdest part was seeing the other person wearing them. One pair was if I recall correctly a string bikini that was white and blue horizontal striped (Spalding, I think). The dude I gave them to was kind of nonchalant about them, not carrying what they were, but when I told them to keep them he didn't object and I know that we wore them often the next semester (we were in the same dorm.) He started wearing bikinis all the time then the following semester, at least according to his roommate who blamed me for it. (He wore bikinis before he borrowed mine tho.)
