Old underwear brands

Post by stringbikinidude »

Stumbled upon two old (now defunct) underwear brands - Malepak and David Nicola. Anyone else out there know/knew of these brands? Wish we would get companies like this to make those same styles again!

I'm not familiar with the brand Malepak, but I did find a David Nicola thong in a drawer that I rarely open. It is pale pink and the label says 100% cotton and Made in England. Don't remember if I ever wore it which would explain why it still looks brand new.
Does anyone remember an English company called Estelle back in the late70's? They used to have small adverts in daily newspapers and were probably the first company that I ordered sexy underwear from. Their styles were very skimpy and often included totally transparent nylon bikinis and thongs. I bought quite a few items from them, but gave them all away to charity shops during one of my clear outs. Not sure what the reaction of the charity shop workers would have been when they saw them, but hopefully they found a good home.

Prevail Sport was originally known as Malepak. I used to get their catalogs in the mail every month.

I also remember when Frederick's of Hollywood sold a small selection of men's bikinis and thongs, and the local shopping center had a Frederick's of Hollywood store. I bought my first thong from them- a white cotton thong with 1/2 inch sides and a vertical seam down the front. The sales ladies were always so pretty! I'm sure I was red-faced with embarrassment every time I took my selection of thongs up to the counter so those pretty sales ladies could ring up my purchase.

And then there was Undergear, which shut down years ago.

Ross was another department store that specialized in selling close-outs. They used to have a very good selection of men's bikini briefs, but sadly, now the only men's underwear that you'll find there are boring, big, baggy Y-front briefs and boxer briefs. Still a nice selection of panties, and sometimes you'll find a couple of Jockey Tactel panties (which are passable as men's bikini underwear) but that is becoming a rarity.

I took a bit of your quote to mention-
International Male used to make Undergear, now I just see the Undergear name by itself. Maybe someone just re-used the name. Their site carries other brands as well. The Alvin String Bikini (not really a string) is nice and low-cut, just trim the pubes a bit.

I was buying Gaff Thongs from Wildnsweet on eBay. She retired, but sold the design to BBlair who is making them in the USA and selling them only on her own site, https://lexybblair.com/ so a favorite design can continue.
