This example didn't show the actor wearing a bikini, but I couldn't find another post on the forum that covered this issue. I recently saw an episode of The Big Bang Theory in which Sheldon was trying to persuade Howard to introduce him to Steven Hawking. Howard agreed, but forced Sheldon to carry out various labours on his behalf, one of which was to do his laundry. While Sheldon was in the laundry room folding Howard's clothes, Penny came in and picked up a very racy animal print bikini, which as anyone familiar with the show will know, is not Sheldon's style. When Sheldon mentioned that the bikini was Howard's, she immediately threw it down in disgust and asked Sheldon why he was washing and ironing Howard's "man panties?" It may have been a throwaway line, but given the global popularity of the show, it certainly didn't do any favours to those men who champion the wearing of such skimpy underwear.

I thought the men in speedos on the talk show clip was interesting,particularly the positive and very noisy reaction from the mainly female audience every time one of the models showed their butt in a thong. The female presenter certainly played her part in winding up the audience to a frenzy by getting up close and personal to the scantily clad guys. I'm assuming this was an American show,so if that is the case,it seemed a bit strange that in a country that generally is hostile to skimpy swimwear for men,that the guy in the chair was saying that they had sold out of many of the styles on display. Going back to the reaction of the audience. It was similar to a group of women on a hen night screaming at a male stripper. But I wonder if that's because most of them were probably going home that night to a husband/partner lounging in front of the telly in baggy boxers or well past their best tighty whities?

Attitudes have definitely changed in the last 30 years, due mainly to feminism. Indoctrinating women to see the penis as a symbol of rape and oppression instead of something to be desired and appreciated in a husband/wife relationship. Also add 30 years of indoctrinating men to be ashamed of their bodies. Got to keep them covered up so no one can see anything and be offended because you have a penis. Feard-driven too, because no man wants to be arrested for public indecency, get arrested, jailed, fined and have to register as a sex offender, lose their job, etc. for doing nothing more than wearing a bikini swim brief to the beach or community pool.

Bored I was surfing through Facebook and one of the advertisements was organizing your home, I stopped to watch because it was funny that my wife and I had been discussing the topic. The guy looked mid/late 20s and I watched for tips. One of the tips was the way you fold laundry and he showed shirts and such them he showed “the proper” way to fold a man’s thong then trunks. Just found it interesting he showed potentially his underwear choice. I’m sorry I don’t know how to share the video here.

Had never given this much thought until you mentioned it. Was surprised at how many vids there are on Youtube showing how to fold various types of underwear, including thongs. Being a G-string wearer 99% of the time, I don't have a problem with space or folding them, but it was an interesting article and always good to see thongs being promoted with no fuss!

Just saw a short clip from The Foo Fighters spoof horror movie that comes out next week and is set in a spooky old house. Greasy looking guy wearing what looks like an animal print bikini or thong takes off his t-shirt and jumps onto a bed that contains a lady friend. Not a fan of the band so won't be going to see it, but I'm wondering if the guy will meet a horrible death and if the underwear will be treated as a joke.

Female victims in horror movies are often shown in their underwear so it's not necessarily negative. But I do have a bad feeling on this one that his underwear is supposed to be funny.

Was flicking through some tv channels while having my dinner tonight and came across a show called Married at First Sight(Australia). As the title suggests, various couples get hitched having just met and have to decide if they'll stay together or split up. The scene I saw was at spa, and the four women were by the pool in their skimpiest bikinis(no surprise there), but when their four husbands appeared, I was pleasantly surprised to see two of them wearing speedos(or budgy smugglers as they're called Down Under). Mind you, Aussies do seem to be less inhibited about wearing them than other nationalities. Perhaps if they were worn by guys in other popular reality shows worldwide, then they might become more commonplace on the beach.

I can’t remember if this on was mentioned, but the 1998 version of The Parent Trap (with Lindsay Lohan) she’s the butler in a blue swim brief. My 5 year old daughter happened to be watching the movie this past weekend (I think it Freeform, cable tv) and the scene was when the girls were trying to get their parents back together. The butler was in a blue swim brief in the hotel room. So kids today can see an adult in a swim brief on cable tv in front of a young girl and no harm was done.

I absolutely remember that scene from when I was a kid.

That also reminds me of a scene in "Meet the Parents" in which Ben Stiller's character has to wear a borrowed speedo for a family gathering. The scene is played for laughs: borrowed swimsuit, a "set-up" from the fiancé's ex boyfriend, a somewhat loud swimsuit print, etc.
