Hi !! my name is John, i live in Athens Greece and i wear thong underwear sporadically since 2001 and 24/7 since 2008. Swim thongs also since 2008.
I want to share with you that during these years i met and keep , until today, contact with 4 others men who liked thong underwear. In Greece seems that thongs for men are just another choice of underwear.The percentage of thongers must be low of course , but its not zero or near to zero.Right the opposite i would say.
The very first thonger was a guy who i met in the army during my service time there during the years 2003-2005. He is still a good friend of mine and keep wearing thongs as underwear.Not daily , but often. I guess 3-4 time pen month during the winter and more often during the summer.
The second guy was a young person i met during my bisexual phase in my life and was my boyfriend. 2008 i met and still today we keep contact. i introduced him to thongs as i was making the changeover from occasionaly use of thongs to full time wear, so i liked very much to see him in thongs. He likes them form the very first moment and until today he wears them.
The third buddy was a italian guy in his late 20s.We started to talk as members in one another thong forum and he eventually moved to Greece for about 2 + years and now he lives in Sweden, but every summer he visit Greece and spent time together. He is now 32 years old, staight married and his wife is also full time thonger as he is.Especially with this guy we have a wonderfull relationship as underwear buddies.We buy thongs for each other, exchange thongs, talk about thongs all the time.
The fourth guy , also Greek like the first 2, is my current thong buddy who lives close to me. I met him at the beach , about 2 months ago.He was in a swim thong and my best suprise is that he is full time thonger already.He is about 27 years old, straight with some light bi tendencies, and he lives in the same island as i .

Welcome to the forum John and thank you for sharing your thong wearing experiences. Great to have someone from your country flying the flag for all things thong related. I know speedos are popular in Southern Europe, but good to hear that thongs are worn by men too. It makes sense that in warmer countries men feel able to wear skimpier swimwear/underwear, and it's nice to have friends that also share your passion in that department and are up for swaps etc.

Well CrossfiThong, i try to keep contact with all my friends, even if i met them years ago. From the moment i call someone as my friend, he is friend for ever. Even more for people who enjoy thonging. I feel that with them i have much more common facts/habits/experiences to share. And usually we have great time when we meet each other.
For example, 2 years ago me and other 2 friends had a fantastic time in my island during that summer. We all lived in my apartment so you can guess what was happening every day.We comment each other thongs- how look on us-, we saw if there are visible thong line under our shorts or linen pants, what thong was more comfortable, we exchage thongs and so on... and of course was very funny to see 3 men in swim thongs at the beach !! hehe....
So yeah i enjoy their company when is possible and i say when is possibe as they live away from me.
Thats why i am happy with the guy i met in my island because is possible to meet him and enjoy his company every day. On the other hand i feel sad because from september i will be again alone in Athens and he will go back to England for work there.
But, since thongs in Greece is something not rare, maybe i will meet another thonger soon.

Hi John and welcome to the forum. It's great to hear about your experience wearing thongs with your boyfriends in Greece. I am straight married and wear thong and bikini underwear regulary. I live on the southern coast of the USA and it has a warm humid climate like the Mediterranean so it only makes sense to wear thong and bikini underwear here. I wear swim briefs at our local beaches and pools in summer. Unfortunately mens swim thongs are not accepted here. You are very fortunate to live in country where you can wear thongs to swim.

Both of them are wise choice for the climate you and me have and really i cant understand the people who wear tight boxers or boxer briefs when the weather is hot and humid... What you wife saying about your choice?
Some wifes are supportive others are not.
I met a girl in her early 30s, about a month ago. We just talked but we had a excellent chemistry. And we continue to talk until now. This girl with her other 2 friends will visit for 3 days my island. In fact Martha is best friend -girlfriend to be- with my thonger friend Nikos.Fivi is the girl i am talking about.And Paola is the third girl.
None of them ever seen us in thongs. Martha probably knows that Nikos wear thong underwear and swimear, but never have sen him in real wearing them. For me thay have no idea.
So at 13 of August these 3 gilrs will be in my Island and spend some time here (3 days). I really have anxiety to see how they will react when see me and my friend in swimthongs. I will text here to inform you.
Well in Greece there is a rule : When you on the beach you are absolutely free to do and wear anything. The freedom is without limits. When you are out of the beach, then social rules are back. So according to this rule swimthongs, nudity, even burqini is your choice.
Thats why, when i read in american forums that the lifequard or the patrol said no thongs...or people ask in which beach is legal to wear swimthongs, i really get crazy.How is this possible to happen? is the question which come to my mind every time. How is possible someone to say no to you when you are on the beach......

My wife was not too sure about my thong underwear at first but now she seems fine with it. She accepts that it's just my preference and an expression of my individual sexuality.

I hope you will have a good time with the woman you are seeing soon. I wonder if women in Greece and southern Europe are more accepting of men in bikinis and thongs than in other places? You should wear your thong confidently on the beach while she is there. Who knows? Maybe she will be turned on by your swimwear choice and things will get hot between you . If not, it would be a disappointment, but you will be true to yourself by wearing what you like. Please tell us how it goes.

It's complex to explain America's sexual repression to someone from a culture such as yours. Part of it is the English Puritan history of the United States that still has a lot of influence in our culture. Religious fundamentalism plays some part also, particularly in the mid-west and here in the southeastern USA. We refer to our region as the "bible belt". Other forces at work are homophobia and perceptions of how straight man should dress, how he should behave etc., and pop culture in general. Men who wear bikini briefs and thongs do not fit into those rigid expectations of American masculinity. Male bikinis and especially thongs are seen as "gay wear" by many heterosexual men (and women) which of course is ridiculous. That is why you will read threads on these forums about men getting up the courage to wear brief swimsuits at US beaches and pools. It took me a few years to get comfortable wearing swim bikinis in public. Men can technically wear thong swimsuits on public beaches if local laws allow, but because of all these things I mention it's very taboo and not socially acceptable for men to wear them in most places whereas with women its acceptable. So you see we have double standards here. I still struggle to confidently wear my thong underwear in the pool changing room when I'm getting dressed after swimming, but I am slowly getting better with it.
Another thing you may find strange from your perspective: I much prefer to sleep nude, but my wife does not like when I do because we have small children. I say there is nothing wrong with them seeing my body. It's just a body and I am not ashamed of it. There is nothing sexual or inappropriate going on. So we compromise and I wear a thong or brief to sleep in so my penis is covered. A happy marriage is one of compromises!

Thank you Swimmer78 for your answer. You help me a lot to understand what was really hard to understand to me. The role of the religion was something i never think of it and yeah watching the political scene in Usa i see that it is a critical factor of influence behaviors and political acts. In Greece we are christian orthodox , but we do have absolute freedom in our lives.Freedom is the base of our religion .
But i have to say also that during the last 10 years, while we faced a serious economic crisis, the people in Greece, the big majority, seems to become more consernative. I can see it happening year by year in many aspects of social life.We became more consernative towards sexuality in general , freedom of speach, and so on.And i dont know when it will stop.The greek society , at least in my eyes, is not as liberal as used to be.
I totally agree about compromises in marriage. This is the only way to keep your mariage alive and be a happy husband. I was with a woman for almost 10 years and i know very well what you are saying.At first was very supporting with my thong underwear and swimwear. As the years passed and she stopped the gym, stopped excersise herself, becoming older ( she was older than me in first place) she began to felt insecure about her body image.Then she changed her attitude towards my thongs.She said that she is not feel ok with me thonging at the beach and she metioned various of reasons. Then she started being negative about my thong underwear.At first i obliged and for 1 summer i didnt worn thong swimwear, but i protested about thongs underwear.First because i didnt have any other type of undewear, so i had to buy new pairs. and secondly because was something that nobody see.its under-wear not out-wear.
Anyway for many reasons things was getting worst and worst between us and we divorsed.
But i really tried to keep our relationship. i wore speedos at the beach and bought 3-4 boxer briefs. but i felt like i am in prison.
Especially with boxer briefs i couldnt stand so much fabric.
So swimmer78 is there any percentage of time between thong and bikini wear?
a last thought : For me is really impossible to sleep at night with a thong.After so many years of thong wering, still i feel soooo good in them.What i mean is that they make me " upset" at least so if i wear one is certain that i cant sleep. The only times i slept, during the night, in a thong is when i was sooooo tired , so i just collapsed on bed after the day ended.
So, are you facing that "problem" or not?

I’d like to weigh in on this also. Brief history, I wore bikinis, briefs and a few thongs years ago. Then media changed my mind and I wore trunks (boxers briefs mostly) and a few bikinis/briefs. Got married and fast forward almost 10 years the positivity of this group helped me express to my wife that I wanted to wear thong underwear again. She was hesitant but agreed. Now I mostly wear thong underwear all the time. Occasionally bikinis or briefs- I have to many to just stop. But no more boxer briefs for me. My thighs need to breath lol. I slept nude for years even after marriage but once our daughter was born I stopped and wore boxers, it was a personal choice for me. However in the past few months I have switched and only wear briefs to sleep in (unless my daughter has a friend sleep over). I have even worn a string bikini to bed, remember I he Hanes that look like Jockey Life - I dislike them for daily wear but aren’t too mad to sleep in. Now I own two speedos but only wear shorts on the beach. The beach we frequent doesn’t allow thongs and I have only ever seen one man in a speedo. For me I do not have the confidence to rock a swim brief in the beach but certainly applaud those that do. I to am from the Bible-belt south and guys here just don’t wear swim briefs There are other beach in NC where I believe guys do wear swim briefs more frequently and northern beach guys have worn thongs.
