Asking Family/Friends for Pictures

Post by ian262 »

I'm realizing that almost all of the pictures I have of myself in a bikini are selfies. I would love to have some pics from the pool or beach that someone else takes. I don't have a SO right now and I've only just started wearing a bikini around family and friends. I'm pretty cautious still about doing it, but I plan to do it a lot more this summer. Do I just say, "Hey, please take a picture of me?" Is that weird? Is there a better way to do it?

Hire a photographer to do a photoshoot of you modeling your favorite underwear and swimwear.

I would have thought if you were with family or friends then it would be natural to have pics taken either within a family group or solo. Your choice of swimwear shouldn't stop you from featuring in future family albums. If you are on your own at a beach and would like some pics to capture the moment, I'm sure you could ask someone in the vicinity to snap a few pics on your behalf. If you feel that lying spread eagled on a towel might be a bit inappropriate or suggestive, you could always pose by a lifeguard station or a sign post so that your bikini clad body isn't the sole focus of the pic.
We all tend to weigh up a person before we ask a stranger for directions or to sign a petition etc because we are afraid that they will react in a negative way, so you would adopt the same strategy when approaching someone on a beach. Good luck, and who knows, you might find the person who agrees to your request to take your picture might become your next SO! lol

Ian, TangaTanga makes some great suggestions, and I have a personal story along these lines to share. I started working on bodybuilding in 1976 during a summer job at our local YMCA and got my first Speedo bikini-style suit to work on a tan with smaller tanlines. One day, my dad got a roll of film developed, and showed me a candid picture he had snapped of me lying out and catching rays in my bikini! It was not mean-spirited, and we had a laugh together. Some years later, he and my mom had a chance to spend winter in Florida, and I went for a visit. We spent time at the beach, and I wore my Speedo bikini. We all took pictures, and the ones of me in my bikini show me standing comfortably and relaxed and looking at the camera. There were no uncomfortable comments or looks from my parents. Good for you, Ian, on your plans to wear your bikini even more! If the beach or pool you go to tends to attract a fair number of bikini or thong enthusiasts, all the better. If there is a nude beach in your area, better still!! You will be among others who, like yourself, have the confidence to celebrate the freedom of healthy sensuality. A friendly request to take your picture while you pose comfortably will most likely be quickly agreed to, and the other person may want to pose as well. If there is a group, there might be several other poses, too. Good luck!

Not too long ago I retrieved a box of junk from my parents' house, and it contained a lot of things from college. Included in that junk were a few pics, including of me and others, and there were a few (both Polaroid -- ahh, the good old days and regular film pics (probably from disposable cameras...remember those? :D ) ) of me in underwear. There was one that I completely remember them taking, although I didn't remember that I was in my underwear; it was from my junior year in college so I'd have been 20 or so, and I was giving the camera the finger with a cigarette hanging out of my mouth and bottle of whiskey in my hand, wearing a T-shirt and a pair of string bikinis that were white but with blue pinstripes. I can't remember the brand. There was another of me younger, in high school, during a camping trip where we had gotten drenched and I was there in Hang Ten bikini briefs and T-shirt, with three other kids who were all in tighty-whities. A couple more from college, one where I was standing with my arms outstretched and across the shoulders of my roommate and one other dude (Again during a party type of situation) where my roommate and my buddy were both fully clothed and me not, in dark red string bikinis of some type...not sure what brand those were either, but whatever string bikinis were around in Walmart in the mid-90s, probably Catalina or something? And then a famous one taken when I was on all fours looking for something (probably illegal) under the table, in a T-shirt and a pair of purple Gitano string bikinis (you can see GITANO stitched pretty obviously on the waistband.) So I haven't asked FOR pics, but have received them.
