I finally made it out to our beach spot near Pensacola with my wife and kids last Saturday. It's been terrible weather this summer here on the Gulf Coast for the beach as its been nearly non-stop rain and thunderstorms. I wore a royal blue swim brief under that I bought from Swim Outlet a while back. It's a pretty standard cut with 3" sides. I wore them under my shorts and dropped them off as soon we found our spot and set up. It was a relatively secluded spot and there only a few folks nearby. One couple had set up about 50 or 60 feet to our right and another group on a boat down to the left probably 150 feet away. We spent several hours on the beach relaxing and had a nice time. Got some nice time playing in the water with kids and tanning on the beach. Some more folks came and went while we were there. I felt pretty relaxed and confident in my brief. At one point we walked down the beach a long ways looking for shells and passed some more folks. Of course I am the only man there wearing a swim brief.

When we got ready to leave I was feeling brave and decided not to cover up for the walk back to the car. This particular beach is a key with a two lane road that runs down the middle of it. The Gulf is on one side and a coastal lagoon on the other. The road was quite busy. As I was standing by our car a group of younger guys (maybe college age?) rode by and I heard one of them shout "OH MY GOD!!" That was the only reaction to my suit I noticed. We rode down to a pavilion that had restrooms and outside showers. It was pretty crowded there. I was going to walk through the parking lot to the showers and then to the bathroom in just my brief to change, but chickened out at this point and covered up with a towel. Maybe the guy shouting had shaken my confidence, I don't know. All together it was a pretty good beach day. I'm about 5 years into wearing swim briefs. Overall I'm getting more confident wearing them outside lap swimming, but still have setbacks from time to time.

Just remember, the comment came from an immature and insecure person. There's a reasonable chance he'd like to swim in a real swimsuit but he's weak and his need to conform overcomes his desire. Don't let someone like that stop you from being who you are and enjoying life your way!

Also (and I hesitate mentioning this) there's a reason that region is dubbed the "Redneck Riveria".

Such a shame that one comment from a passing idiot put a slight damper on what sounds like a very positive experience. I suspect he was looking for an outraged reaction from his group of friends, but hopefully, unlike him, they had a more mature approach and thought it unworthy of further comment.

Hi enjoy, thank you for the warm encouragement! I think this is what these forums are all about. Yes, I won't stop enjoying real swimwear because of insecure men (or women, although its usually men/teen boys). Who knows, maybe one day he'll "see the light" and try a brief swimsuit on when he's more mature. There are very few situations where I would even entertain the idea of swimming in board shorts. At most I wear a square cut trunk now. The Gulf Coast has some of the most beautiful beaches in the world and it's a shame that all you see down here are conformist men who never even question what they are wearing to the beach. They are told what to think and what to wear. To them a speedo is not something a "real man" would wear in public or if he does he must be gay and they are terrified of being perceived as gay. Wearing a speedo at the beach clashes with their ideas of masculinity. Now I know not everyone who sees a guy wearing a speedo at the beach thinks that way, but it's the prevailing thought. A "real man", at least in my opinion, will have the courage to think independently, wear what he wants, and express his individuality. I can only hope that I'll inspire some guy to take the plunge and get out of those awful board shorts some day.

Tanga I hope you're right, but I'm thinking they all got a laugh at my expense. Oh well, time to move on and enjoy the beach in my bikini as I should.

I live in California. During the summer, I visit the beach about once a week. I generally go to the same beach every time and run along a path that runs between the long stretch of parking lot and the beach itself. People are often walking to and from their cars to the beach. The stretch that I run on is about 1.5 miles long and is not the most populated part of the beach, but there are people. I'm running in a public place. The round trip is about 3 miles and my run lasts close to 30 minutes. There are often other runners, cyclists, and people walking on the path, in addition to people crossing the path to get to the beach. This year was my third year.

I started out running in a "Speedo" style suit with very thin sides (a bikini). And I would pull up the edges of the suit to expose more skin and get a better tan. The more I did this, the braver I got. I would basically pull up the back of the suit to expose my butt and create a thong. At some point, I just switched from the bikini to a thong. And eventually, I was wearing a g-string while running on this path. I mostly do this when there are fewer people. If there are big crowds, I'll get nervous and throw the bikini or even a square cut over the g-string. But if I see that the path is sparsely populated by mostly single people or couples, I'll just run in my g-string. If I see a big group ahead on the path, I might get nervous and cover up. So I carry my bikini or square cut cover-up with me while running. For the most part, nobody cares. It is California. Many of the women on the beach are wearing thongs. I have seen very few men in less than boardshorts where I run.

In addition to running along the beach, I will also do workouts on the beach. Some days, just a bunch of push-ups and ab exercises. Other days, I will bring fitness bands and attach them to the volleyball post and do some pulling/back exercises. Leg days are a bunch of squats, lunges, and jumping exercises. I try to set-up away from others, as much as possible. But I'm usually within sight of a handful of people. I wear a g-string for the workouts. Again, for the most part, nobody cares.

I have occasionally received negative comments from people driving by or riding by on a bicycle. I've been called a freak. I've been told to cover up. I've been told to wear shorts. But I can literally count on one hand the the number of times someone has said something negative. Every once in awhile, I will get a thumbs up from someone or a quick smile. I'm not sure if they are making fun of me or not. I'll sometimes run by people and hear them whisper or laugh. I assume they are laughing at me, but they could be laughing at anything. So maybe I'm just being paranoid. Every negative experience has involved a man. Positive reactions are mostly women and a few men.

So why do I do it? I love the freedom of being out in the world, as close to naked as possible. I love the feeling of wearing a perfect fitting g-string. I love trying NOT to care about what other people think and reminding myself that most good people don't care anyway. I love just being me and finding the courage to enjoy life without feeling judged.

Here's my favorite beach g-string:

First of all may I say welcome to the forum. Secondly, was your forum name inspired by The Big Bang Theory's Sheldon Cooper and his string theory? lol. And thirdly, what a great story to begin what will hopefully be the first of many contributions to this blog and forum.
It's interesting that most of your negative comments came from people going by in cars and on bikes, rather than face to face. No doubt they go home and become keyboard warriors online posting negative comments safe in the knowledge they will remain anonymous. Your story also highlights the double standards when it comes to exposing our butt cheeks. Women in thongs are accepted and encouraged to do so, but woe betide a man who dares to bare his backside(as you've unfortunately discovered).
On my recent trip to Sicily, I was delighted to see three guys wearing thongs all on the same day. The first guy was on his own and passed me as I was heading into the nature reserve by the sea. He was heading for the exit, but I don't know if he covered up before leaving. I saw the other guys walking along the cliff path as I was sunbathing naked down by the shore in the nudist zone. They seemed a bit hesitant as they walked, so I quickly put on my g-string and waved to attract their attention. When they saw me, I gave them a thumbs up and turned to show them I was also wearing a butt revealing string. They smiled and continued on their way. I packed up my stuff and climbed the rocks onto the path and was surprised to see both of the guys just ahead. They had pulled on their shorts, and as I drew along side them I felt compelled to mention their thongs, so in my best Italian I said "I noticed you both like to wear thongs!" They looked at me puzzled and said "Can you speak English, we don't understand?" It turned out they were a couple from Malta who didn't speak Italian. I asked about the thongs, and they said it was their first time wearing them, which explained why they'd seemed a bit nervous about being seen in them, even in an unofficial nudist zone. I told them about The Bottom Drawer and my passion for wearing g-strings, which made them more relaxed. Then I wished them well as I continued my journey back to my holiday apartment.

Love the pic you enclosed of your favourite g-string. Perhaps you could feature that and any others you have on a future Share the Goods post on the main blog? If you check back on the main blog, you will see quite a few contributions from followers(myself included), and see what to do to present them.

Thank you for the warm welcome! I have seen boards similar to this one in the past (like thongboard), but never registered, much less posted. I have been wearing bikinis, thongs, and g-strings for well over 20 years. Pretty much nobody knows and therefore I don't talk about it with anyone. So it is nice to be able to communicate with someone about the experience. Thank you.

My username is definitely a play on words between "g-string" and "string theory." String theory is a very complex way of looking at the Universe and everything it, in an attempt to explain it through mathematics and string-like connections weaving together all matter in the Universe. This is my very weak understanding of string theory. I'm not an expert. This forum is full of theories on g-strings (all the thoughts on wearing things from the bottom drawer). And we're all connected by our passion for g-strings, thongs, and bikinis. I love the play on words. I love g-strings (and thongs and bikinis). And I have lots of theories on the subject. Seemed like an appropriate username. I did watch Big Bang Theory. But String Theory existed before that show. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/String_theory

I never thought about how negative comments do seem to come from people driving or biking by. It is usually not from runners or people walking. I think this allows them to express their disapproval without confrontation because they can just drive off. And yes, there is a double standard, even here in California. Women, especially young women, are almost expected to wear more revealing swimwear. Men are expected to cover up. However, I do feel that it is more acceptable today than it was 20 years ago. But it could also be that I am much older now and don't care as much about what other people think. By the way, I'm referring to strangers at the beach, not friends or family. THAT is a different story.

I love your Sicily story. I would love to meet and chat/interact with others who enjoy minimal swimwear. Maybe some day. For now, this forum will have to do!

 Hello! May I add my own welcome to the forum! I joined last year and have found the sharing to be very liberating. I'm a bikini guy. I stared off with the Speedo bikinis in the mid-1970s. My bikinis have gotten progressively smaller as my bodybuilding and tanning have progressed. My choice now is the M73 Rio Microbikini from Skinz. Leaves VERY LITTLE 😋 to the imagination! I can certainly understand your feeling liberated by wearing the gstring out and about while you enjoy life! Nothing like "pulling some chains" perhaps long past due for such. Who wants to be covered up by "Bored Shorts"🤔 styled by the local tentmaker?!? Tell us more about yourself, especially what got you interested in microwear to begin with. All of us are exhibitionists to one degree or another. Enjoying our choice of microwear enhances our development as sensual and sexual beings in a holistic sense. Becoming comfortable with being " nearly nude" around others who also enjoy such can certainly boost confidence! You will find yourself among friends here, so feel free to open up. Members in California can probably suggest great places to enjoy your "attire" and might be able to arrange some meetups as well. Good luck!

So yeah... I live in Mississippi and everything you say about the guys in this region is exactly true. Scared to death of being perceived as remotely gay, whether they are or are not... browsing Grindr around here is hilarious. I'll wear anything from a square cut to a g-string to the pool or the beach, but I absolutely refuse to wear dork shorts. I agree with you completely that a real man engages his brain, thinks for himself, understands that he can buck the trends (like wearing swim briefs instead of dork shorts), and has the fortitude to take the comments from others for what they are: negative comments are almost always coming from a place of insecurity.

Nice surprise

Post by Tacoronte »

It was in the middle of September on a small beach in the north of Spain. From the water I calculated that there would be about 100 people on the beach, so I assumed that there would be 50 men there.

To my surprise, I saw that five of us were wearing speedos. It is true that some, once out of the water, changed into shorts, including one of the two lifeguards who attended the beach. I kept my speedo on before and after taking the bath until I got dressed to go.

But I was pleasantly surprised to see that 10% of the men on the beach wore speedos.

I hope that in the next summer season this good percentage will increase.
