This weekend I'm staying at a hotel where a local hobby convention is taking place. It's over 95 F during the day time, but the humidity makes it feel like it's over 100 F. However, the hotel has a pool and the people attending the convention have a reputation for being more open minded. Knowing all of this, I knew I had to bring my speedos with me.
At first, I was a bit afraid someone local who knows me might see me in one of my speedos and make a negative comment or make fun of me. On that first day, however, I didn't see any locals and had a wonderful and relaxing time at the pool in one of my speedos.
On the following day, which was yesterday, it was more crowded at the pool. Some more of the locals that I knew were also there so initially I was a bit more hesitant to let them see me in my black swim bikini with 1" sides. Then I realized that there were other speedo-wearers at the pool and the con attendees were more open minded than the general population. Then I thought I shouldn't care too much of what other people think what I was wearing and shouldn't care what they think.
So when a local happened to swim close to me, I didn't move or tried to hide away from him. I greeted him and we began chatting. We decided to sit down and chat some more. He saw me in my black swim bikinis and didn't say anything bad about it as if I was just wearing shorts.
It was at that point I decided to stand outside the pool not caring what other people would say, including another local. I thought I shouldn't care what he thought of me. I spotted another local and I approached him and he surely sae me in my swim suit.
I had a few people take a few photos of me standing proudly by the pool. I enjoyed the photos they took of me, including some of me resting in a lounge chair while I was tanning.
I learned that people don't care as much of what I wear and it might all just be in my head. I have another day here at the hotel and I plan to wear another one of my suits and I hope some of my friends and locals see me in them.
I'll give you updates.

UPDATE
On my last day of that weekend, I went to the pool one final time. I wore my 1" Speedo brand suit at the pool. It was sunny and about 98°F, a perfect day to cool down at the pool.
It was very relaxing being in the water without all that fabric around my legs. I spotted another local who knew me at the pool. I was still a bit weary of him seeing me. After an hour or so of him talking with other people, he came near where I was on the edge of the pool and chatted with me to greet me. After a few minutes I decided to stand up and my speedos were visible and outside of the water.
We just chatted like normal and he didn't seem to be shocked or puzzled of what I was wearing, until he had to leave. During my three days at the pool, no one even remarked of what I wore. At the end, I willingly came up to some people that I knew while wearing my different suits as a way to feel more comfortable in my swimwear.
The following days I messaged some of those people where I confessed that I was initially afraid to be seen in my suits in public, but then I thought to myself "Who cares what others think? I'm comfortable in these". To which they reacted positively.
It was a wonderful and relaxing experience. I'm planning to go to another convention next month and the hotel does have a pool and many of my friends will be there. And, yes, I will wear my suits there.
