I’ve only started wearing thongs is the past 2 years. Wore string bikinis in college in the early 90’s when I could start buying my own underwear. My first was a Calvin Klein cotton string bikinis. Stopped wearing them when the boxer / boxer briefs became popular. My first thong was one I purchased from Shein in September 2024. I didn’t want to spend a lot on the experiment and It didn’t fit great. I got rid of them and found the great reviews of the Iking sky microfiber things on Amazon. Tried those and was absolutely hooked! I got instantly excited that first time and still feel confident and sexy every time I put one on in the morning. Thongs are now my daily wear.

My first thong was a shiny, maroon satin thong. Fagioni was the brand. Bought it in a little indie lingerie store called 'Sexy Stuff' :D

And that, I discovered Frederick's of Hollywood had a small selection of mens underwear. They had very comfortable cotton thongs! After that, I bought most of my thongs from MalePak (later called Prevail Sport).
Y'know, I've had a few of the "piano wire" style thongs before. Some are definitely uncomfortable, especially after a few hours. Others with a bit more length to the back string are quite comfortable for me. Problem is you'll never know what it is you're buying until it's in your hands, which is a rarity these days.

It was a long time ago, but the first was a mens Yves Saint Laurent microfibre thong in black and another in red.
Was shopping with GF at the time and we went into a department store (MYER) to buy new pants a shirt and underwear for a formal dinner. She actually picked it out and said, "You would look sexy in that". Long story short I got the second one because a sale was on. Buy 1 pair and the second was half price. So I ended up with two 😅

What I don't like is when you are shopping online and you're looking at a particular thong that you're considering buying but the vendor won't have a picture of the back of the thong when the model is wearing it, they won't show it to you, only the front or the sides. When you're as picky about your underwear styles as I am, that's a deal-breaker, because if I can't see what the entire thong looks like I'm more likely not to buy it!

Calvin Klein cotton string bikinis were the best at that time! And I was very disappointed when they changed the design! 😤 The side straps where the exact perfect width. And then suddenly they started making them much wider and a big guy like me, the waistband folds and rolls down and I hate that! 😠

Well, um this is a interesting story.

My older brother had a jockey thong (i think, a very thin string on the back), and then later had some satin ones. He is anything but 100% straight and this was in the late 80's. (He also had bikini's but that is another story) I was a curious kid and found them, and well would wear them. He was 10 years older then me, not sure if he knew. When i had enough money I rode up to JC Pennies and bought one. It fit terribly but was so hot.

Couldn't agree more. Just the other day I was looking at some thongs on the Undergear website (the fizx rayon ones look appealing) but I really want to know what the back is like.
Bodyaware got it right: they're starting to include photos of the thong without the model, so you get a clear look of both the front and back. Great work.

Sometime when I was in college in the mid to late 90's I picked up a thong from Wintersilks and smallish athletic jock from Road Runner Sports. I wish I had picked up more back then. Oh well!

I think in 1999-2000ish I picked some thongs up at Target. They were cotton string thongs (with the wider waistband). They felt great; though, I felt some shame (that of course I didn't need to feel). Then a few years after I got married I picked up some Skinz thongs and string bikini then Ergowear then became an aficionado!
