I wear thongs and g-strings to the gym under my leggings. No one has ever said anything; however, I haven't used a changing room in a. long while. When I was at a previous gym several years back, I always wore Ergowear "string" bikinis, and no one ever said anything. I probably had the most exotic underwear of anyone there. I tend to wear a longer t-shirt up top and higher waist women's Lululemon Wundertain leggings, so it protects my back from "what tail." If you are looking around and bothered by my thong, then that's your problem

Yeah, I wish we could get over all of this as a society and just normalize things whether it is having a normal bulge, unintentional camel toe, butts, unintentional (or intentional) cleavage, nipple outlines, panty lines, no panty lines, thong lines, whale tail, you name it--in public when it is innocent and just folks being folks and not trying to be inappropriate or lewd.

I do wonder if it depends on where you are in the world and the US. I think most/many parts of the US (and the world for that matter), it would be odd. I think in other parts of the US, and depending on the gym and if it was a major metro area, if it was noticed, it might be fine. In others it might be odd. I think some people do not know what to do with things they have not seen or experienced before, and feel threatened, make judgements, do not know what to do with what they have experienced, etc.

I think if you were big and burly, or ripped, well, some people might not want to say anything...

I don't exactly want to show my whale tail or g-string; though, I don't want to feel weird if it pops out (which I kind of don't though I wear a longer T and higher waisted leggings for comfort, which all prevent it).

Even in some liberal places, like where I live, there can still be a quiet uncomfortableness from some people cause you are out of line with their culture (whatever that is and however liberal and progressive it is).

Some women think it's hot, some women are disturbed (don't know what to make of it), some women I think quietly think it is hot (yet are dismissive of it vocally to others), and some women do not care one way or the other. Men, well, I've never had too many conversations about thongs with other men (other than the men here, so who knows). I've known some that were terribly homophobic and misogynist about it (who were actually some of the weakest men I've ever met), some wouldn't know what to do with it cause they do not know what to do with things that are outside their culture, and some are probably totally cool and wish they had the courage, and some do not give a flip.

Here is my take. Many women wear leggings at the gym, and quite often their VPLs (Visible panty lines) can be seen. If they were truly concerned about underwear lines, they would not wear leggings at all. Most are probably just unaware that their underwear lines are showing, and they do not expect anyone to be looking that closely.

Unless you're blatantly showing off your thong at the gym, just remember that most people are simply minding their own business.

At the gym yesterday morning I was wearing leggings that sit a little low on my hips. As I was on the weight machines I could feel my shirt rise no my waistband lower enough to see the top of my thong. I simple finished my set then adjusted my clothing. No one said a thing, and I know they noticed.

This morning I wore my tiger print leggings, thong underneath. As soon as I walked in I got one woman tell me the only thing she could think of was “Meeeoow!”, in the sexist voice possible with a big smile. Another woman asked if she could pet me because I looked so good. One other said I looked like Tony the Tiger and “You’re Grrrrrate”.
