Hi all - This is a topic that's been heavy on my mind the past few days. So feel free to DM me if you don't want to share in a public forum.
As I've been taking a dive further into the idea of wearing thong swimwear, there's definitely a couple of constants for me that I'm trying to sort through.
Those being:
1. I'd like to wear this stuff in an appropriate public setting
2. I feel strongly that I want to be seen in that way (start small get out more)
3. It feels exciting with a definite adrenaline rush
4. It also feels arousing (maybe because of the excitement/exposure?) and I feel ashamed about this part of it
5. I don't know if that's normal or ok, or if I should really just keep this private because of that part (the arousing part).
So, basically, I'm trying to hold all of those things and trying to make sense of it. Like, if I go out in a thong at the beach because I feel like I want that excitement, to be seen / accepted, to be completely comfortable in my own skin - but I know that it will definitely be an arousing experience and I can't really ignore that. Does that make me an exhibitionist then? Wouldn't that be bad to pursue because of that?
Full disclaimer, I will be talking this through with my therapist later this week - because I think that'll be helpful for me to sort through those questions myself, but I wanted to get a beat from the like-minded folks here who also enjoy microswimwear.
Did you ever feel like a perv for wanting this? Where's the line between, something I enjoy, and something I'm subjecting others to (exhibitionism)?
Anyways, that's my head for right now - would appreciate any thoughts or advice there!

We wear thong because we are ok with our backside exposure to sun, wind, air.... and people looks. Someone loves more sun and others love eyes. I like being watched but I would be considered as a normal person like everyone else. Someone does it, others are impressed and have a different reaction, positive or negative.
Doing whatever you would naturally do at beach: walk swim chat tan, leave clothes in car park... Is 100% appropriate. In beaches there are hundreds of people and the high majority is there to do their business. I accept the desire of being watche, but not exceeding with non normal behaviours, assuming weird positions, standing and going aimlessly around someone... This is rarely appreciated and makes a bad impression on all thongers.
Last summer I was sitting with male and female friends in a bar and a lady standed 1h around us in a micro thong bikini with her butt almost on sitting people face. Eventually a women among us back talked her, correctly.

Wearing a thong on the beach isn’t exactly exhibitionism as long as you are not doing any provocative activities. Like many of us, we go to the beach to enjoy the sun, sand and surf. We meet friends, read a book, swim and more because that’s what people do at the beach. Can there be a level of excitement showing up at the beach wearing a thong? Sure there can. Actually I would be personally disappointed if I didn’t have some sense of excitement. This doesn’t mean it is sexual. It does mean that there is a sense of enjoyment, happiness and confidence. I don’t push the boundaries with sheer of exposure type of thongs. Being accepted, seen and feeling comfortable in your own skin is a great goal.

Thanks for the replies, all. Really appreciate it. I think I need to grow in my acceptance that what I wear does not inherently mean that I am behaving inappropriately, but rather how I act is the cause for any inappropriate behavior.
Honestly, we're talking about things here, but I'll say that I have the same fears about wearing short shorts still. So I think this is more of a "me" thing, that'll just take some time and bravery to get out of.
I'll be sure to post on my progress!

As a kid, I liked to squeeze into downsized flat front speedos for the beach. As an adult, I wore tiny Asian low flat front bikinis. Then I discovered
gaff thongs, wider strap in back and smooth flat front, which women prefer to see, at a crowded beach.
No bulge, no problem.

You are right - I think it depends on context and how you are doing it. Read the environment, and see what's appropriate for the context. And, would someone of the opposite sex also be seen as inappropriate by you if she were doing the same thing. (I know this is relative.)
If there are a bunch of kids around or if it's obviously a more conservative crowd wearing conservative bathing suits--it's probably not the best time to be sauntering around in a sheer or micro g-string (IMHO).
However, of you are at the beach, not many people are around, you are further away from folks, (or if there are other adults around with women in thongs/g-strings), and you are wearing a thong/g-string, then rock it. If someone comes up after you and is offended, well that's their problem.
If you are being yourself, and say wearing leggings with a thong underneath and someone is offended at your leggings or thong, well, that's their problem so long as you are not behaving inappropriately (or wearing it inappropriately for the context). If a woman were wearing a thong/g-string in such a situation, and it would be deemed appropriate for the context (which I know is relative), then that's an indicator it should be fine for men to wear one too. It's not your problem if someone wants to stare too closely to see what you are wearing or take a look at your genitalia.
My wife and I wear thongs/g-strings/micro g-strings at our local reservoir during the summer. We walk a good ways away from anyone else, then strip down. If someone happens to walk our direction along the lakeshore (sometimes happens), well, we were here first and you sauntered into our context, so you need to be okay with it or move along.
