I am able to routinely wear the briefest g-strings at the beach and I think that a miniscule g-string is the most practical choice. I have worn a c-string - they just don’t stay put either walking on the beach or in the dunes and especially in the surf. You’re always reaching down to adjust it. I’ve also worn a baggie and matching butt plug. While better for socializing on the beach they were still problematic in the water. As TheThongster says both are fine if you just want to be “erotic, risqué, or just plain slutty”, but to actually wear something it needs to at least have strings and a reasonably adequate pouch.
