Appropriate age for young thong wearer

Hope this discussion is acceptable, otherwise please mod, let me know and sorry.
During one of big meals of Christmas vacation, there was a friend with a 10 daughter who was wearing a thong. She was playing with Santa's present and bend over showing the whale tail. Of course I noticed cause she was just in front of me and her mother noticed it immediately too so she (discreetly) escorted daughter at bathroom and adjusted her clothes.
Time ago a friend of mines, a teacher, told that at elementary school she see a 6 years old wearing one, and caught cause of a toilet incident. I also have seen a family with a 6-7 girl at beach several years ago, they were apparently from eastern Europe.

Question is: do you think there is a appropriate age for wearing thongs underwear and thong beach? Male and female?
Some random thoughts:
* Thong is somehow sensual and littles needn't to be sensual
* Except for accidents, people don't know what underwear people have so why not also at young age?
* At beach why expose young (less than teens) to everyone look? Consider all their co-age dress differently
* Todays teens and younger, especially girls seem not concerned about showing skin so the issue is only in who see; in Italy many preschool kids haven't any bathing suit.
* A little kid isn't concerned about being naked or showing his/her body and doesn't know what "appropriate" or"sensual" means, just can learn what parents teach.
* Some sick people may have an interest in juvenile thongs, why give them this?

So I don't know how to answer to the question. What do you think? Personally I think I was ready for these at high school but for many reasons I waited too much, especially for beach.

I think the topic has been discussed in the past, but I also would love to hear from new members and if other members have changed their mind any? I have a daughter reaching pre-teen years and we haven’t seen any thongs her age range at the local department store I wonder if she will one day want to try them. Her mama doesn’t wear thongs so she is only used to seeing her in full cut panties. I started with string bikinis around age 12 I think. Didn’t get to try thongs until around 18. I don’t know if I would have tried them earlier since I was living at home and mom doing my laundry.
I don’t know how to define the age though, but maybe a progression from bikini to string bikini then thong.

As cenOns73 was saying, that is a subject for parental education, if they care about safety of the child, her health too.
After puberty, it is up to the wearer's choice, with the possibility of endless succession of infection as a gynecologist could tell you.
For males, strictly a matter of personal choice at any age.

I don't know if the topic has actually been covered on the forums or not. I did write a post related to it several years ago. https://www.the-bottom-drawer.com/when- ... -the-kids/ There are members of the forums that are parents, so I think this is a topic that those that wear thongs and have kids would be interested in and could contribute to. I think the issues is that thongs are not being seen as a pair of practical underwear. Most look at it from the sexy side. Should they be marketed towards children, I would say no. Guess the word "young" is somewhat relative to ones age. In my opinion, I don't think a discussion on wearing thong underwear would be until the teenage years. I would say it comes down to the maturity of the individual. Though once a female is able to go shopping they can buy their own anyhow. Not so much the case for a male. Anyhow, I don't want my kids to feel they have to hide it from us. For swimwear that is kind of a whole can of worms with it being public viewing and too many people not being respectable. Guess in the end it is discussing wearing them and working out a plan that could be fair. I think it is better to know and try to help protect them or at least make them aware of potential unwanted attention that can come from it. Educate them and try to find a balance.

I don't have kids yet, but I just want to share my observation. I was about 11 years old when I saw a thong for the first time. In grade 7, girls in my class started wearing thongs. These girls were all physically developed by that age, but they were still not mentally mature. They wore thongs to impress their mates, so it felt like they were peer-pressured.

I was a teenager in the 2000s when it was cool for girls to show off their thongs. I feel like the show-off culture is still there, as teenagers are influenced by Tiktokers and artists like Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion. These days, I go to the beach and I see high-schoolers in thong bikinis, and I think this is all because of the show-off culture that encourages girls to show off their body.

If a young girl wants to try thongs out of curiosity, then I would be in a good position to guide and help her choose. However, if she wants to wear thongs because she feels pressured to do so, then I wouldn't be supportive of her intention. Like what tbdrawer said, it comes down to the maturity of the individual.

I talk about girls here because they are more sensitive to cultural trends and influenced by peer-pressure. For guys, underwear is a personal preference, so I wouldn't be too worried if a young guy wanted to wear thongs.

I agree that depends on consciousness of kid, social background (Brazil and Spain isn't Iran) and reasons of the choice of thongs and thong beachwear.
@kiyothong, yes especially on young girls, fashion and each other approval works more than individual couriosity and this is also a good reason for not seeing in all Europe any teenager boy in thong among shorts wearer friends.
