Wearing a thong to the gym
Wearing a thong to the gym
Do you wear a thong to the gym?
If so, how did you get started with this, and have you ever received comments or experienced any awkward situations because of it?
I want to wear a thong to the gym but I’m a bit scared.

If you're scared at the thought of wearing a thong at the gym, you could wear dark shorts and/or a longer t-shirt.
Re: Wearing a thong to the gym
I always wear a thong under my leggings or shorts at the gym. This week I’ve been wearing Christmas themed leggings every day. My leggings are like a second skin on me. If you don’t know I wear a thong underneath my leggings it would be a surprise to me. Today I had a couple women tell me that I inspired theme to wear Christmas leggings too. They asked where I got my leggings and made comments of how “good” I wear leggings.
I freely use the locker room to shower and change. I have a pretty good thong tan line too. So I just strip, shower and dress again with a fresh thong. I’ve never had a comment from anyone.
Own that you wear a thong. Be confident. Smile and be friendly. For the most part the more you stand proud with yourself the lees anyone would be negative.

I wear a thong under my workout clothes at the gym all the time. While I usually don't change at the gym, I have showered and changed wearing a thong like any other underwear. No comments or stares from anyone.
At a previous employer, they had a fitness center. I changed out of my work clothes into my gym clothes wearing a thong and also showered and changed into a clean thong. Once again, no comments or stares from my coworkers.

I used thong bathing suit in swimming pools in Germany and Spain during my business trips without any problem.
Totally legal so noone can comply.
In locker rooms of pools and gyms also nothing wrong so anyone can say anything

I'll wear thongs occasionally to the gym during my workout and will also bring them to change into after taking a shower at the gym. I've worn them in the locker room while standing at the sink to shave, too. So far no one has ever said anything! I like the freedom of movement a thong provides during a gym workout, even more so than a jockstrap in my opinion!
Re: Wearing a thong to the gym
When I’m able to go to the gym I wear a thong under my shorts. I’m not the biggest fan of jockstraps and I think thongs are perfect. They don’t bunch up, they don’t restrict movement and they are comfortable. I don’t change at the gym so I’ve not had anyone notice I’m wearing a thong either.

Hello. I wear a thong at the gym almost all the time, and there’s something you’ve gotta do no matter what: act confident. There’s always a little bit of nervousness when I strip down from my shorts to change or take a shower, but in the end, being confident changes the game.
One time, I saw a guy staring at me in the mirror, and he said “WTF,” looking shocked while I was changing and getting ready for work. I was nervous, but I never felt embarrassed. If they can’t get over it, that’s on them.
My suggestion: go at times when there aren’t a lot of people at the gym, so you’ll kind of have the locker room to yourself. Little by little, you’ll build confidence, and eventually you won’t even notice you’re showing your thong.

Re: Wearing a thong to the gym
CrossfiThong, that's great that you didn't let the guy in the locker room phase you. I've worked on my confidence getting dressed in my YMCA locker room after swimming and showering. It's a small locker room so I really can't hide much. I intentionally make myself get dressed at a calm pace, not rushing to cover up after I put on my thong. And you are right about using the gym when it's not busy to build confidence. Over the Thanksgiving holiday week my Y closed the main gym to replace some of the floors, so only the pool was open. The place was practically empty, so I took advantage of it and walked from the showers to the locker area wearing just my Ergowear Hip thong one morning. It felt great and gave me confidence boost. I'm not into exhibitionism, I just practice to be comfortable in who I am and what I like to wear.CrossfiThong wrote: Wed Dec 10, 2025 3:53 pm Hello. Re: Wearing a thong to the gym
I definitely wear thongs or g-strings to the gym, we do CrossFit e times a week.
We don’t change at the gym, so people wouldn’t see me thongs, but I wear fairly thing shorts, and it’s pretty obvious I’m wearing a thong. No one has ever said anything to me. It’s just a natural choice to me.
In any case if anyone said anything, I’d just point out that the girls can wear them so why can’t I?
