Swimwear accountability- updated
Hey, all, I’m making this post as a way to hold myself accountable. This summer, I made a promise to myself that I would wear only briefs and thongs. No swimshorts, at all.
So far, I have survived a couple family vacations at hotels, swimming at a couple apartment complexes and a private pool that belongs to my friend.
But my big test will be going on a vacation this weekend. It’s still hot here in Texas. We have another month of swimming weather. I go on a weekend getaway with a sports car club All male friends and a couple of their wives. The campground we stay at has a hot tub. And I’m making the commitment that I won’t go back on my word.
I’ve been trying on suits all morning, finally settled on a black speedo brand figured simple was better. Hopefully with this post, I’ll be forced to report back next week. Wish me luck!

Good luck! What has your feedback been like so far?

Stay strong to your word. Wear your Speedo with confidence and joy. Don’t worry about what others think. Their hesitation will only be temporary if you exhibit a friendly disposition and a pleasant smile.

Well, I held my word.
The weekend ended up being hot even for October. I had originally pictured just wearing my bikini in the hot tub after dark, but a big group ended up going swimming in the actual pool during the day due to the heat.
The total attendance for the show was probably 50 or 60 people. I would say there were 20 or 25 of us in the pool area. I purposely left my trunks at home so I wouldn’t be tempted to chicken out. This method has worked for me several times. I have to admit I was a bit nervous this time, because I didn’t realize we would be swimming in daylight.
I brought a black speedo solar. Pretty skimpy suit, but more conservative than some others that I’ve worn. Also feel like the speedo branding makes it seem a little more legitimate swim, brief and less like I’m just showing off. I wore my cargo shorts down to the pool and after a couple of guys telling me to get in I shucked them and started the brave walk toward the water.
As I expected, several people turned their heads immediately. I got kind of a mix of some giggles and some whistles. One of my buddies said wow, that’s very European. So I flexed a little bit and posed to kind of take the edge off.
Nothing else was said, we swam for about an hour or so I got out of the pool a couple of times to get a drink, etc. I could feel a lot of eyes on me, but nobody said anything negative.
I realize I was making a bigger deal of it in my head than it needed to be. But I’ve closed out summer 2025 making my goal. No shorts. Not once.

Congratulations on your ability to stick with your commitment. It’s good to finally know that wearing a smaller suit is not a big deal and you can wear what you like.

Thank you! I agree with your earlier statement that a lot of it is just how you present yourself. Lead with confidence and with being friendly, people don’t seem to have as big problem.Guitar T wrote: Sat Oct 25, 2025 10:17 pm Congratulations on your ability to stick with your commitment. I’m gonna try to do the thong more often in 2027, but this year was a good start.

Congrats Lonestar! That's very brave and I'm glad you had a good experience. I'm sure that was a confidence booster.

I will go to Mexico City next week and the highest will be in the mid 70s. I booked a decent hotel with a pool and I will wear my bikini speedos there. I will try not to conceal my speedos whole I'm at the pool there.
