New sizing guide for Chinese vendors... what are they thinking?!
Now clothing sellers in China are going by height and weight when it comes to determining what size underwear one should order. Men in China are tiny like little boys, and a 12-inch waist is an XL over there. In the states, only children have a 12-inch waist! I message the sellers, asking them for a size guide on their underwear that I am interested in buying and they come back with "How tall are you?" or "How much do you weigh?" That doesn't matter, I could be 5 ft tall and weigh 200 pounds and have a 40-inch waist! Or, I could be 6 ft tall, weigh 200 pounds and have a 40 inch waist! 40 inches is 40 inches... it doesn't matter how tall I am or how much I weigh! They might as well ask if I'm Ethiopian or Danish... it's about as relevant as how tall I am!

buying underwear or swimwear from China is like playing the tables in Vegas. There is no unifor sizing and they vary from maker to maker and often by style within a maker. I have a 32 waist and have had to order anything from Small to Extra Large in an effort to get true fit. With so many manufacturers in China why is it so hard to standerdize sizes? Fortunately when I miss out on guessing the right size I have friends that will take my wrong size guesses.

Whenever I buy from Chinese vendors, especially bikini swimwear, I buy XL. I normally buy M here in the US.

I'm a 35 inch waist and buy XXL in Chinese bikini type.
I've yet to find a Chinese thong that fits me good.
Often they are so cheap you can buy two sizes (eg XL and XXL) and accept one is throwaway.

Hi, Stringer! If you have an organization in your community that accepts new or used clothing (such as Goodwill or the Salvation Army), please consider giving the thong which doesn't fit you to them. Who knows, it might fit another man just fine!stringer wrote: Thu Aug 28, 2025 7:19 am I'm a 35 inch waist and buy XXL in Chinese bikini type.
