First time swim brief, in public
Re: First time swim brief, in public
I can honestly say it has taken a long time to get to this point. Between this group and some friends on instagram, I forced myself over the comfort zone. I am an introvert and very shy, so for me to brave sitting on the beach, feeling half naked took a lot of self energy. I am thankful to a few guys that gave me suggestions and motivated me and thankful for this group. I was able to wear another swim brief today, the beach was less crowded. I stood in the water encouraging my daughter to boogie board, something new this year for her as well. I played in the sand with my son, all while wearing the swim brief. We had a storm roll through, so later in the day we went back to the beach and I didn’t pull the shorts off as some families had set up near us. I didn’t feel as free to just wear the speedo, and commented to my wife that the wet swim shorts on my thighs felt horrible. It takes baby steps.
Re: First time swim brief, in public
I am very fortunate that my wife didn’t nag or make fun of me wearing the speedo. Other than being shocked I would do it in public. I encourage you to take the first step like I did. The first day, I slipped my shorts off and just sat in the chair in the speedo, I never left the chair for at least 30 minutes. Then I slipped my shorts back on - it almost felt naughty haha. But doing it when barely no one else was around allowed me to realize, I can find the courage to do it.Bikini Lover wrote: Wed Jul 30, 2025 10:02 pm Im now bound and determined to pull this off. If you can do itvi can too. I will report back with an after action report. It sounds like you have full backing from your wife.

You are right, I am so glad I found this forum nearly 5 years ago. Good luck rocking your swim briefs on the next vacation.gstringkini wrote: Thu Jul 31, 2025 12:40 pm Way to go, David!
Next vacation, I'm going to rock briefs in public, too. This forum is great for boosting confidence, thanks guys!

David, let me add my congratulations as well! In addition to your wife's acceptance and support, there is another breakthrough: your children getting to see you in something briefer than usual. Your confidence in presenting such attire as a healthy way to enjoy the beach is setting a good example for them! At the appropriate ages, you and your wife can help them select briefer styles for underwear and swimwear as well.

Hats off to you David! Glad to hear you reached your goal of wearing your swim briefs in public. Sounds like your wife was proud of you too.
We're finally past the swim briefs as underwear question from my kids. Now I get the question if I have a swim brief on under my swim trunks when I do wear trunks at places like water parks.
Keep at it and keep owning it. It is very freeing to wear them.

Re: First time swim brief, in public
We wrapped up our vacation this past weekend. I waited for the beach to die down, even though it wasn't very busy but there were other families (young kids) nearby and I didn't want to make myself feel uncomfortable or others as swim briefs aren't often seen on this part of the beach. Both days I laid in the sun or stood in the water helping my daughter boogie board - she had a great time, I did feel like she was staring at me, but I'm sure she was trying to figure out why daddy was wearing something so small. On the last day, I wore my briefs and stood near the water while the kids played in the sand - people were walking the beach, they had sunglasses on so I don't know if their eyes were looking or they were laughing or if the simply ignored me and kept on going. Either way, it was a confidence boost to be that undressed in front of others. I hope to be that brave again next year.

Re: First time swim brief, in public
I started wearing thongs as swimwear 25 years ago. At first I only wore them laying on my back. When going for a swim I put on a short over my thong. Every summer since that time I got a little bit more courage and now I have gained enough courage to lay-out, swim and even beach-walking in my thong. My thongs also el smaller every time a bought new ones. My first was a Dore ‘moderate cut’ thong, which had a somewhat wider front and a small ‘V’ in the back. A few years later I discovered Thongbiker and Muscleskins. Since 2020 iSwim is my favourite. Most of my iSwim thongs have narrow fronts, some have nice bulge.
It took some time, but now I feel totally relaxed and self-confident wearing thongs on the beach. It’s so much fun!

Awesome!
I'm slowly getting the courage to wear them where I don't think it would raise an eyebrow, so mostly in Miami and sometimes at hotel conventions with more open-minded people. I went to a local hobby convention and the people there are definitely very open-minded. I knew that if I went to the pool that I would seem some speedos. I was not disappointed. I wore my more conservative swim briefs under my square trunks, but then took off those. It was amazing. No one said a thing.
Later that day when it was dark I wore mine that had narrower sides and I loved the feeling. Again, no one said anything. More people were attending other events anyway.
