Another poster on this thread brought back a wonderful memory for me:
At the time fashion underwear for men was in infancy my mother worked for Munsingwear - in the men's/boy"s underwear department: she sewed the waistbands. By working there she worked on the latest styles and colors. She also had access the factory seconds..... much cheaper even though no difference in look or fit.

Anyway it was not uncommon for her to bring home a bag of these. I was blessed with great underwear. So, I had a good source of nice, coloref underwear since 7th grade. Started wearing it since then and haven't looked back - only a couple of white. Like I said -a nice memory.
That’s awesome! Super jealous of that little perk. You probably had 0 chance of picking boring undies then 😂

My first colored brief was a blue bikini. Look under the purchase of first bikini topic for that. Here is the second one. I was a senior in high school in 1991. There was a department store chain named Jamesway in our area. It's long gone. They had fliers every week in the paper. My mom comes to me one day and says " Jamesways having a sale on underwear. What do you want?" My response was " can you get me at least one pack of the colored ones and if they aren't available I guess the white ones". A few days later she hands me a pack of the colored briefs and a pack of traditional whites. The colored ones were Spalding and blatantly marketed for teen guys since on the cardboard package there was a huge colored photo of a fit shirtless teen guy wearing them. Light blue, light maroon and black. Low rise but more like bikinis with a traditional waistband with spalding written on the waistband. Amazing fit and comfort due to the minimal fabric. I am surprised so many moms on this board had meltdowns due to bikinis and colored briefs. My mom wanted me comfortable. She also had no problem with the bright pink and bright red flowered Hawaiian shirts I wore. The bright pink and white striped shorts she rolled her eyes and questioned but still let me wear them. Spalding underwear must have been short lived. It was the first and only time I saw it

Got my first colored briefs in 2013 when I was 21. Just the basic fruit of the loom colored briefs. Don’t remember All the colors in it but the first colored ones I wore out of it were the red briefs

I started wearing colored briefs as soon as they came out. i must have been 17 or 18 years old at the time, and the first pairs I saw were made of nylon. I thought that was really sexy so I bought a pair in blue and a pair in red. The nylon fabric that they used to make those briefs did not allow for much air flow and I literally sweated my balls off when wearing them. i continued to try new brands when they released briefs in color and I have rarely worn white underwear since.

I grew up in a household with 6 brothers. I was the middle oldest. Always white briefs passed down among us. I hated it so my first money I bought some Bikini underwear and have never worn White briefs since and I'm 75. My brothers are all stodgy tighty whitey wearers.

I would have to say that I got my 1st colored underwear in high school after I learned to drive. They were bikinis from a discount department store. I kind of hid them from my parents. It was not until college that I wore them as my regular underwear.
